Lemon fruit (Citrus limon (L.) Burm.) is highly appreciated by consumers due to its antioxidant properties and health benefits. However, shelf life can be limited various factors, reducing the economy, thereafter, new strategies maintain quality of lemons are necessary. Melatonin a derivative tryptamine, which ubiquitously found in plants has wide range functions regulating numerous physiological processes plants. During two consecutive harvests, we evaluated effect preharvest treatments with melatonin on crop yield functional lemon cv. Verna at harvest weekly after storage up 28 days 2 10 °C plus 20 °C. was applied as foliar spray dosages 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 mM three different stages development. The results showed that treatment had positive impact well parameters, such firmness, content bioactive compounds, activity, especially for dose. Taking all these effects into account, application along growth cycle development could considered non-contaminant eco-friendly tool improving ‘Verna’ during postharvest storage.

To address unpredictable flavor changes in postharvest peaches during storage, this study investigated the use of bioactive packaging with melatonin-infused P34HB films. Films melatonin concentrations 0%, 1%, 3%, and 5% were prepared using extrusion casting method applied to peach storage at room temperature. Comprehensive film properties characterized, showing that minimally impacted films' mechanical properties, including gas water vapor permeability, but significantly increased haze. Using GC-IMS, 30 organic compounds affecting effectively identified, 8 aldehydes, 5 alcohols, 4 ketones, 12 esters, 1 pyrazine, olefin, furan. Unpackaged, naturally ripening served as a reference for assessing quality across various groups storage. The results indicated appearance off-flavor compounds, such ethanol produced by anaerobic respiration complex was primary cause deterioration. 1% most preserved original juiciness peaches, highlighting its potential an active solution fruit.
