Abstract The use of bioresource‐derived wastes to valuable organic reactions is a new and fascinating trend in the current‐day chemistry which aims at decrease/elimination depleting resources based chemicals. This article discusses sustainable protocol for synthesis C=C bonds via Knoevenagel condensation reaction α‐cyano esters with aldehydes using water extract Annona squamosa fruit shell ash (WEASF) as catalyst. These have been conducted room temperature (RT) aqueous media products are purified by recrystallization. WEASF acts biorenewable base process avoids solvents column‐based purifications products. bio‐derived also showed its high reusability current alternative existing methods making polysubstituted olefins.

Utilization of waste-derived materials for industrially pertinent chemical transformations is highly challenging and offers sustainable solution to waste management. Despite several difficulties in the manufacture aryl iodides (AIs), which are fundamental substrates organic synthesis, we report here, an added oxidant/metal/catalyst/additive problematic solvent-free versatile straightforward protocol synthesis AIs using molecular iodine (I2) water extract pomegranate ash (WEPA). These were performed at room temperature (rt) reactions takes place 5–20 min give 83–99% yields AIs. WEPA was characterized by XPS, EDX, XRF, XRD, FTIR analysis a plausible mechanism has been established based on these analyses along with some control experiments. Further, products purified recrystallization technique. This work intrinsic sustainability, high substrate feasibility, utilization biorenewable catalystytic media, ease execution separation products, oxidant/catalyst/metal additive-free conditions may become one among forefront procedures making The use as media this iodination novelty method be used further in-process (e.g. cross-couplings, nucleophilic reactions, etc.) access fine chemicals.
