Background: Flowering members of the globally diffused Rosaceae family include popular plants, such as apple, almond, and cherry, which play a fundamental role honeybee nectariferous polleniferous agents. Through production honey, these plants can also an indirect in prevention treatment many diseases, including infections, fighting occurrence resistant microorganisms, concurrently stimulating growth beneficial bacteria. Objectives: This study focused on effect some plants’ hawthorn, raspberry, against pathogens Acinetobacter baumannii, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Listeria monocytogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus. Results: Results demonstrated honey’s ability to impair swimming motility. A crystal violet test indicated that honey could inhibit formation stabilization biofilms, with inhibition rates up 59.43% for immature biofilms (showed by apple A. baumannii) 39.95% sessile bacterial cells mature (when we used cherry S. aureus). In 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide, were most effective inhibiting cell metabolism both (56.47% vs. K. pneumoniae) (54.36% baumannii). Honey stimulated Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Lacticaseibacillus casei Shirota, gasseri, plantarum, rhamnosus; almond significantly increased vitro adhesion capacity L. bulgaricus Shirota. Tests probiotic supernatants biofilm pathogens. Conclusions: Our results encourage further studies assess potential application food preservation health field, it fight antimicrobial resistance clinical pathogens, potentially enhance host’s gut wellness. The use nanotechnological biotechnological approaches be suggested too.

Background and Objectives: Cystic fibrosis (CF), caused by CFTR gene mutations, primarily affects the respiratory gastrointestinal systems. Microbiota modulation through probiotics, prebiotics, or synbiotics may help restore microbial diversity reduce inflammation. This study aimed to evaluate their efficacy in CF. Materials Methods: A systematic review meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published between 2000 2024 was conducted Cochrane, ScienceDirect, Web Science, LILAC, BMC, PubMed, SCOPUS following PRISMA guidelines. Methodological quality assessed using Jadad scale, RevMan 5.4® estimated effects on pulmonary function (FEV1), exacerbations, hospitalizations, life, inflammatory markers. Results: Thirteen RCTs (n = 552), mostly pediatric populations, were included. Most examined probiotics (e.g., Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, L. reuteri), while four used synbiotics. Several studies reported reduced fecal calprotectin proinflammatory interleukins IL-6, IL-8), suggesting an anti-inflammatory effect. However, no significant differences observed regarding hospitalizations life. Additionally, none documented serious adverse events associated with intervention. The showed decrease exacerbations (RR 0.81; 95% CI 0.48–1.37; p 0.43) improvements FEV1 (MD 4.7; −5.4 14.8; 0.37), even subgroup analyses. Sensitivity analyses did not modify effect intervention exacerbation frequency, supporting robustness findings. Conclusions: Current evidence suggests that yield inconsistent clinical benefits CF, although some reduction markers occur. Larger, multicenter longer follow-up are needed for clearer conclusions. Until more definitive is available, these supplements should be considered experimental adjuncts rather than standard interventions CF management.

It is widely agreed that microbial biofilms play a major role in promoting infection and delaying healing of chronic wounds. In the era resistance, probiotic strains or their metabolic products are emerging as an innovative approach for treatment hard-to-heal (chronic) wounds due to antimicrobial, healing, host immune-modulatory effects. this study, we aimed investigate potential cell-free supernatants (CFS) from Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG against mono- dual-species wound pathogens 3D vitro model. Mature Pseudomonas aeruginosa Staphylococcus aureus were obtained on collagen scaffolds presence simulant fluid (SWF) treated with CFS at different doses time intervals. At 1:4 dilution SWF, caused marked reduction colony forming-unit (CFU) numbers bacteria embedded mono-species well released by supernatant. CFU count electron microscopy imaging also demonstrated antibiofilm effect starting 8 h incubation. Furthermore, exhibited acceptable levels cytotoxicity 24 incubation HaCaT cells and, differently ciprofloxacin, failed induce resistance after 15 passages sub-inhibitory concentrations. Overall, results point L. postbiotics promising strategy biofilms.

Abstract This study aims to evaluate the antibacterial activity of Lactobacillus acidophilus , alone and in combination with ciprofloxacin, against otitis media-associated bacteria. L. cells were isolated from Vitalactic B (VB), a commercially available probiotic product containing two lactobacilli species, Lactiplantibacillus (formerly Lactobacillus) plantarum . The pathogenic bacterial samples provided by Al-Shams Medical Laboratory (Baqubah, Iraq). Bacterial identification antibiotic susceptibility testing for 16 antibiotics performed using VITEK2 system. minimum inhibitory concentration ciprofloxacin was also determined. antimicrobial VB1 cell-free supernatant (La-CFS) evaluated checkerboard assay. Our data showed significant differences synergistic when La-CFS combined comparison use each compound alone, Pseudomonas aeruginosa SM17 Proteus mirabilis SM42. However, an antagonistic effect observed Staphylococcus aureus SM23 Klebsiella pneumoniae SM9. shown significantly co-aggregate bacteria, highest co-aggregation percentage after 24 h incubation. anti-biofilm activities CFS biosurfactant (BS) evaluated, we found that biofilm inhibits 50% (MBIC50) La - lower than MBIC50 La-BS tested species. Vitane capsules, demonstrated promising media pathogens, highlighting its potential as effective complementary/alternative therapeutic strategy control ear infections.
