Remnant cholesterol and its variability independent of low density lipoprotein cholesterol predict metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease

This
study
aimed
to
determine
whether
remnant
cholesterol
(RC)
and
its
variability
can
predict
the
onset
of
metabolic
dysfunction-associated
steatotic
liver
disease
(MASLD)
independently
low-density
lipoprotein
(LDL-C)
levels.
A
longitudinal
cohort
involving
43,065
participants
who
underwent
at
least
two
physical
examinations
was
conducted.

Macrophages
play
crucial

in
immune

and
tissue
homeostasis,
with
their
functions
becoming
increasingly
complex
obesity-mediated
metabolic
disorders.
This
review
explores
the
extensive
range
of
macrophage
activities
within
adipose
liver
tissues,
emphasizing
contribution
to
pathogenesis
progression
obesity
its
related
dysfunction-associated
steatotic
disease
(MASLD).
In
context
obesity,
macrophages
respond
adaptively
lipid
overloads
inflammatory
cues
tissue,
profoundly
influencing
insulin
resistance
homeostasis.
Concurrently,

A
diet
containing
foods
that
are
sources
of
S-methylmethionine
(SMM),
and
its
use
as
a
dietary
supplement,
have
demonstrated
beneficial
health
effects.
Thus,
the
objective
this
work
was
to
evaluate
inclusion
SMM
supplement
in
C57BL/6J
high-fat-fed
mice
verify
whether
compound
alone
would
be
responsible
for
these
positive

three
groups:
LF
(low-fat
diet),
HF

HF+SMM
