Abstract Valorization of carbohydrate‐rich biomass by conversion into industrially relevant products is at the forefront research in sustainable chemistry. In this work, we studied inulin 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural, deep eutectic solvents, presence acidic task‐specific ionic liquids as catalysts. We employed aliphatic and aromatic catalysts, choline chloride‐based solvents bearing glycols or carboxylic acids, solvents. The reactions were performed a biphasic system, with acetone benign extracting solvent, enabling continuous extraction 5‐HMF. aimed to find best experimental conditions for transformation, terms catalyst loading, reaction time temperature achieve an economical energy efficient process. also analyzed results solvent viscosity structural organization well catalysts acidity, elucidate which features mostly favour reaction. Under optimized conditions, obtained yield 5‐HMF 71 %, 80 °C 3 h. Our system can be scaled up recycled three times no loss yield. Finally, comparison literature shows that our achieves higher under milder than most protocols so far reported same transformation.
