Abstract The environmental impact from the waste disposal has been widely concerned around world. conversion of wastes to useful resources is important for sustainable society. As a typical family wastes, biomass materials basically composed collagen, protein and lignin are considered as recycle reuse. In recent years, development carbon material derived biomasses, such plants, crops, animals their application in electrochemical energy storage have attracted extensive attention. Through selection appropriate biomass, optimization activation method control pyrolysis temperatures, with desired features, high‐specific surface area, variable porous framework, controllable heteroatom‐doping fabricated. Herein, this review summarized preparation methods, morphologies, heteroatoms doping plant/animal‐derived carbonaceous materials, electrode secondary batteries supercapacitors, support lithium‐sulfur batteries. challenges prospects synthesis large‐scale biomass‐derived also outlooked.
