Abstract This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the NFT effects on attentional performance in healthy adults. Six databases were searched until June 2022 to identify parallel randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating improvements after NFT. Risk of bias was assessed using Cochrane Collaboration tool. We identified 41 RCTs for qualitative synthesis 15 (569 participants) meta-analysis. The overall effect significant (standardized mean difference = 0.27, 95% confidence interval 0.10–0.44). However, no pooled found within comparing its with sham (8 RCTs). Additionally, variable observed individual subsets performance. Further sham-controlled are required validate improvement

Electroencephalographic Neurofeedback Training (EEG NFT) aims to improve sport performance by teaching athletes control their mental states, leading better cognitive, emotional, and physical outcomes. The psychomotor efficiency hypothesis suggests that optimizing brain function could enhance athletic ability, indicating the potential of EEG NFT. However, evidence for EEG-NFT's ability alter critical activity patterns, such as sensorimotor rhythm frontal midline theta-key concentration relaxation-is not fully established. Current research lacks standardized methods comprehensive studies. This shortfall is due inconsistent target selection insufficient focus on coherence in training. review provide empirical support selection, conduct detailed analyses, examine specificity electrodes frequencies relation hypothesis. Following PRISMA method, 2,869 studies were identified from PubMed, Science Direct, Web Science, Embase, CNKI, PsycINFO. Thirteen met inclusion criteria: (i) proficient skill levels; (ii) use EEG; (iii) neurofeedback training (NFT); (iv) motor metrics (reaction time, precision, dexterity, balance); (v) group NFT comparison; (vi) peer-reviewed English-language publication; (vii) randomized controlled trial (RCT) design. Studies indicate can sports performance, including improvements shooting accuracy, golf putting, overall skills, supported demonstrates enhancing performers' states efficiency. current body hampered methodologies a lack selection. To strengthen supporting NFT, future need standardizing employing rigorous investigating underexplored markers. These steps are vital bolster its effectiveness boosting performance.

Motor imagery (MI) in combination with neurofeedback (NF) has emerged as a promising approach motor neurorehabilitation, facilitating brain activity modulation and promoting learning. Although MI-NF been demonstrated to enhance performance cortical plasticity, its efficacy varies considerably across individuals. Various context factors have identified influencing neurophysiological outcomes execution MI, however, their specific impact on event-related desynchronization (ERD), key marker NF, remains insufficiently understood. Previous research suggested that declarative interference following may serve factor hindering the progression of ERD. Yet, no significant changes ERD within mu beta (8–30 Hz) frequency bands were observed blocks either or control condition. This raises question whether absence could be attributed break task was common both condition: watching nature documentaries immediately after MI blocks. To investigate this, we conducted follow-up study replicating original methodology while collecting new data. We compared NF-MI-ERD between groups without post-MI Participants completed three sessions kinesthetic training involving finger-tapping over two consecutive days, quiet rest condition (group ). 64-channel EEG data analyzed from 17 healthy participants (8 females, 18–35 years, M SD: 25.2 ± 4.2 years). ABSTRACT Neurofeedback training (NFT) has emerged as a promising technique for enhancing sports performance by enabling individuals to self‐regulate their neural activity. However, only 53% of the 13 included studies, all which published before 2021, in latest meta‐analyses NFT and motor focused on outcomes. Due rapid development neurofeedback, 8 high‐quality articles were 2023–2024 alone. Therefore, there is need new meta‐analysis update impact performance. In this systematic review meta‐analysis, we have not reassessed knowledge effect EEG neurofeedback but also incorporated standardized methodology, known CRED‐nf checklist (Consensus reporting experimental design clinical cognitive‐behavioral studies), methodological evaluation previous studies. The study protocol was pre‐registered, search conducted across major databases identify relevant randomized controlled trials. A total 25 studies qualitative synthesis, with 21 eligible meta‐analysis. revealed moderate positive sport tasks, Hedges's g 0.78 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.49–1.07. Importantly, subgroup analyses showed that higher quality scores, assessed checklist, had significantly larger sizes (Hedges's = 1.07) compared lower than median 0.49). This finding highlights importance addressing key gaps, such participant strategies, data processing methods, relationship between regulation success behavioral conclusion, showcases task, particularly when methodologies are employed, underscoring rigorous designs future research.

Introduction Achieving optimal visuomotor performance in precision sports relies on maintaining an psychological state during motor preparation. To uncover the state, extensive EEG studies have established a link between Mu rhythm (8–13 Hz at Cz) and cognitive resource allocation tasks (i.e., golf or shooting). In addition, new approach neurofeedback training (NFT), called function-specific instruction (FSI) approach, for involves providing function-directed verbal instructions to assist individuals control specific parameters align them with targeted brain activity features. While this was initially hypothesized aid attaining particular mental NFT, impact of EEG-NFT involving performance, especially when contrasting traditional (TI) FSI underscores necessity additional exploration. Hence, objective study is investigate modulating through context performance. Methods Thirty novice participants were recruited divided into three groups: (FSI, four females, six males; mean age = 27.00 ± 7.13), (TI, five 3.88), sham (SC, 27.80 5.34). These groups engaged single-session performed putting both before after EEG-NFT. Results The results showed that within group, NFT augmented power led significant decrease ( p 0.013). Furthermore, we noted marginal significance indicating slight increase reduction subjective sensation action following 0.119). there positive correlation radial error 0.043), it important interpret relationship cautiously reduced accuracy putting.
