Abstract
Artificial
intelligence
(AI)
and
psychedelic
medicines
are
among
the
most
high‐profile
evolving
disruptive
innovations
within
mental
healthcare
in
recent
years.
Although
AI
psychedelics
may
not
have
historically
shared
any
common
ground,
there
exists
potential
for
these
subjects
to
combine
generating
innovative
health
treatment
approaches.
In
order
inform
our
perspective,
we
conducted
a
scoping
review
of
relevant
literature
up
late
August
2024
via
PubMed
intersecting
with
psychomedical
use
psychedelics.
Our
perspective
covers
application
medicine
for:
drug
discovery
clinical
trial
optimization
(including
pharmacodynamics);
study
design;
understanding
experiences;
personalization
treatments;
screening,
delivery,
follow‐up
(potentially
delivered
chatbots/apps);
psychological
preparation,
integration,
general
support;
its
role
enhancing
brain
modulatory
devices
virtual
reality
haptic
suits);
consideration
ethical
security
safeguards.
Challenges
include
need
sufficient
data
protection
security,
range
necessary
protections.
Future
avenues
exploration
could
involve
directly
administering
(or
providing
algorithm‐generated
effects)
inorganic
AI‐interfaced
neural
networks
that
exceed
human
activity
(i.e.,
cognitive
capacity)
intelligence.
