ABSTRACT Tropical tunas, including yellowfin ( Thunnus albacares ), are recognized as a crucial contributor to global food security. Moreover, tuna is the most commercially valuable tropical tuna. The Spanish purse seine freezer fleet, actively operating in Indian Ocean, emerges leading catch. Currently, planet undergoing climate change, which poised alter habitats on scale, particularly impacting regions by causing an increase sea surface temperatures at unprecedented rate well ocean deoxygenation. Consequently, it foreseeable that large pelagic highly migratory species like tunas may shift their distribution areas, resulting translocation of current fishing grounds. In this context, main goal work study potential shifts grounds targeting within belt Ocean. Our findings suggest although largest catches have moved northward latitude, effort, indicated greater number sets, has been located toward equatorial region. Present results can only be interpreted from human perspective and following commercial strategy response management Therefore, according 38 years analyzed dataset, fleet dynamics apparent. However, we new could not so much attributed movement free schools higher latitudes but complex trade‐off strategies.

Background Ghana’s marine artisanal fisheries, particularly the small pelagic are in a state of crisis. The decline number fish attributable to overfishing, climate variability and unsustainable fishing methods. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are biocompatible and biodegradable, making them an attractive alternative to traditional antimicrobial agents chemical preservatives. Here, a novel α-helix amphiphilic anionic AMP Lc149 was screened from large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) using Bacillus subtilis expression system. is hypothesized protein fragment not annotated in the genome of croaker. Both extracellular recombinant (rLc149) exhibited significant killing effects against Gram-negative Escherichia coli Vibrio harveyi. Scanning transmission electron microscopy revealed that rLc149 had ability disrupt bacterial cell membranes, causing irregular morphology, severe membrane damage, cytoplasm agglutination, intracellular content leakage. Confocal laser scanning flow cytometry further confirmed destruction mortality rates over 80%. Gel retardation assays SDS-PAGE electrophoresis showed unable bind DNA, but did reduce contents. Additionally, maintained antibacterial activity E. V. harveyi upon exposure temperatures 25–100 °C, UV radiation time 0–60 min, pH levels 3–12, different proteases.
