There are few epidemiological data on axillary apocrine bromhidrosis (AAB) in the Chinese population, making it impossible to accurately estimate its prevalence or impact individuals.To of AAB China, and survey compare psychological status individuals with without AAB.Students several universities China were surveyed online for AAB, was calculated. The Social Odor Scale (SOS) is a 12-item questionnaire initially developed and validated in Italian German to investigate awareness of social odors, which are odors emanating from the human body that convey diverse information evoke various emotional responses. scale includes total score three subscales representing respective categories: romantic partner, familiar, strangers. Here we aimed replicate validation versions SOS, translate validate SOS into multiple additional languages (French, English, Dutch, Swedish, Chinese), explore whether factor structure each translated version aligns with original versions. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) supported scale’s structure, yielding good fit across all languages. Notable differences mean scores were observed among different languages: Swedish participants exhibited lower odor compared other groups, whereas Chinese reported higher Dutch participants. Further, correlated respondents’ geographical location, (i.e., northern) latitudes linked awareness. The human armpit microbiome is metabolically entangled with skin cell physiology. This "meta-organism" symbiotic mutualism results in sweat either or without odor (osmidrosis), depending on host ABCC11 gene haplotypes. Apocrine metabolism produces odorless S-glutathione conjugate that transferred by transporters into secretory vesicles, deglutamylated to S-Cys-Gly-3M3SH thiol, and exuded surface. An anthropogenic clade of bacteria then takes up the thiol bioconverts it malodorous 3-methyl-3-sulfanylhexan-1-ol (3M3SH).
