Effects of Climate and Land Use on Different Facets of Mammal Diversity in Giant Panda Range

Understanding
the
patterns
and
drivers
of
different
facets
biodiversity
is
crucial
for
conservation
under
global
environmental
change.
In
this
study,
we
present
first
assessment
taxonomic,
functional
phylogenetic
diversity
171
mammals
in
giant
panda
range
their
associations
with
climate,
land
use
factors
topographic
heterogeneity.
We
found
that
showed
a
very
pattern
species
richness
diversity.
Additionally,
mammal
assemblages
were
more
functionally
diverse
but
phylogenetically
similar
than
expected
by
chance
few
regions
after
controlling
richness.
Furthermore,
was
positively
correlated
heterogeneity,
proportion
forest,
mean
annual
temperature
anomaly
negatively
precipitation
between
current
historical
periods,
while
both
are
predominantly
climate
factors.
Specifically,
higher
mainly
lower
cropland,
precipitation,
periods.
These
results
indicate
large
mismatches
driving
taxonomic
other
importance
contemporary
conditions
periods
determining
range.
Overall,
our
findings
highlight
integrating
multiple
dimensions
to
infer
underlying
processes
spatial
better
inform
management
planning.

Anthropogenic and Climatic Variables Jointly Shape the Global Geographical Pattern of Hybrid Plant Diversity

ABSTRACT
The
emergence
and
dispersal
of
hybrid
plants
are
influenced
by
a
complex
interplay
climatic,
environmental,
anthropogenic
factors.
However,
systematic
investigations
into
the
global
patterns
plant
diversity
their
underlying
drivers
remain
scarce.
In
this
study,
we
compiled
comprehensive
dataset
encompassing
3543
parental
species
across
274
geographical
regions.
We
analyzed
richness,
density
(SD),
hybridization
index
(which
quantifies
spatial
overlap
between
hybrids
species),
along
with
associations
vegetation,
variables.
Our
results
reveal
that
is
highest
in
Europe
Japan,
whereas
Africa,
Oceania,
Atlantic
Ocean
exhibit
significantly
lower
diversity.
Notably,
shows
strong
correlations
both
climatic
factors,
influences
playing
more
dominant
role
shaping
distributions.
This
particularly
evident
hybrid‐rich
regions
such
as
where
locally
distributed
display
reduced
species—a
pattern
likely
driven
human‐mediated
or
other
activities.

Endemism
of
lineages
lies
at
the
core
understanding
variation
in
community
composition
among
geographic
regions
because
it
reflects
how
speciation,
extinction,
and
dispersal
have
influenced
current
distributions.
Here,
we
investigated
patterns
ecological
drivers
taxonomic
phylogenetic
endemism
angiosperm
genera
across
world.
We
identify
centers
paleo-endemism
neo-endemism
genera,
show
that
they
are
mostly
located
Southern
Hemisphere
tropical
subtropical
regions,
particularly
Asia
Australia.
Different
categories
can
be
differentiated
using
climate
conditions.
Current
climate,
historical
change,
variables
together
explained
∼80%
global
endemism,
while
42-46%,
1%,
15%
were
independently
by
these
three
types
variables,
respectively.
Thus
our
findings
past
geography

with
previous
studies

endemism.

Abstract
β‐diversity
quantifies

Abstract
Aim
Investigating
phylogenetic

diversity,

ecosystems
worldwide
