Understanding the patterns and drivers of different facets biodiversity is crucial for conservation under global environmental change. In this study, we present first assessment taxonomic, functional phylogenetic diversity 171 mammals in giant panda range their associations with climate, land use factors topographic heterogeneity. We found that showed a very pattern species richness diversity. Additionally, mammal assemblages were more functionally diverse but phylogenetically similar than expected by chance few regions after controlling richness. Furthermore, was positively correlated heterogeneity, proportion forest, mean annual temperature anomaly negatively precipitation between current historical periods, while both are predominantly climate factors. Specifically, higher mainly lower cropland, precipitation, periods. These results indicate large mismatches driving taxonomic other importance contemporary conditions periods determining range. Overall, our findings highlight integrating multiple dimensions to infer underlying processes spatial better inform management planning.

ABSTRACT The emergence and dispersal of hybrid plants are influenced by a complex interplay climatic, environmental, anthropogenic factors. However, systematic investigations into the global patterns plant diversity their underlying drivers remain scarce. In this study, we compiled comprehensive dataset encompassing 3543 parental species across 274 geographical regions. We analyzed richness, density (SD), hybridization index (which quantifies spatial overlap between hybrids species), along with associations vegetation, variables. Our results reveal that is highest in Europe Japan, whereas Africa, Oceania, Atlantic Ocean exhibit significantly lower diversity. Notably, shows strong correlations both climatic factors, influences playing more dominant role shaping distributions. This particularly evident hybrid‐rich regions such as where locally distributed display reduced species—a pattern likely driven human‐mediated or other activities. findings provide novel insights dynamics plants.

Endemism of lineages lies at the core understanding variation in community composition among geographic regions because it reflects how speciation, extinction, and dispersal have influenced current distributions. Here, we investigated patterns ecological drivers taxonomic phylogenetic endemism angiosperm genera across world. We identify centers paleo-endemism neo-endemism genera, show that they are mostly located Southern Hemisphere tropical subtropical regions, particularly Asia Australia. Different categories can be differentiated using climate conditions. Current climate, historical change, variables together explained ∼80% global endemism, while 42-46%, 1%, 15% were independently by these three types variables, respectively. Thus our findings past geography act shaping which consistent with previous studies higher temperature topographic heterogeneity promote endemism. Our study showed many angiosperms, including Amazonia, Venezuela, west-central Africa not previously been identified as biodiversity hotspots, missed taxon-based measures indicating importance evolutionary history assessment.

Although originating from a common Gondwanan flora, the diversity and composition of floras Africa South America have greatly diverged since continental breakup now having much higher plant species richness. However, phylogenetic what this tells us about their evolution remained unexplored. We show that for given richness considering land surface area, topography, present-day climate, angiosperm in is than Africa. This relationship holds regardless whether all climatically matched areas or only tropical climates are considered. Phylogenetic high relative to refugial northwestern America, once gateway immigration north. While strongly influenced by massive radiations we detect pervasive influence historical processes on both American African floras.

Abstract β‐diversity quantifies the change in taxonomic and phylogenetic composition between areas. It can be partitioned into two additive components (turnover nestedness). Geographic distance, which reflects dispersal limitation, climatic environmental filtering, are major drivers of β‐diversity, but few studies have assessed their relative importance to at a global scale. Here, we investigate relationship angiosperm genera regional floras worldwide conditions within regions geographic distances regions. We found that (1) current climate has stronger effect on turnover than does Quaternary change; (2) variables examined, mean annual temperature is strongest driver turnover, followed by precipitation seasonality; (3) with high seasonality turnover; (4) scale, variation explained jointly is, average, much larger uniquely either distance explains more distance. Synthesis . These results reveal synergistic role isolation filtering determining worldwide, less influence changes.

Abstract Aim Investigating phylogenetic beta diversity, and its turnover nestedness components, can shed light on the evolutionary causes shaping similarity (or dissimilarity) in composition between biological assemblages. Liverworts are important constituents of most terrestrial ecosystems worldwide but studies diversity liverworts scarce. Here, we explore geographic patterns two components across world evaluate relative importance dispersal limitation environmental filtering processes at different spatial extents by relating or to climatic distances. Location Global. Taxon Liverworts. Methods We conducted correlation regression analyses relate (turnover nestedness) six variables representing current climate conditions historical (Quaternary) change, distances (global, continental, regional). Results found that eight climates considered, precipitation seasonality was strongest determinant liverworts. At global extent, explained similar amounts variation turnover, whereas continental distance more than five seven continents, a regional extent (roughly circle 4000 km diameter), generally had greater effect turnover. Main Conclusions conclude both played an role structure liverwort floras, their varies scales among regions.
