Humans are skillful at manipulating objects that possess nonlinear underactuated dynamics, such as clothes or containers filled with liquids. Several studies suggested humans implement a predictive model-based strategy to control objects. However, these only considered unconstrained reaching without any object involved or, most, linear mass-spring systems relatively simple dynamics. It is not clear what internal model develop of more complex objects, and level granularity represented. To answer questions, this study examined task where participants physically interacted system mimicking cup sloshing coffee: ball rolling inside. The were simulated in virtual environment subjects the via haptic robotic interface. Participants instructed move arrive target region both rest, ’zeroing out’ residual oscillations ball. This challenging affords solution known ‘input shaping’, whereby series pulses moves dynamic leaving no oscillations. Since timing amplitude depend on controller’s object, input shaping served tool identify subjects’ representation cup-and-ball. Five simulations different models compared against human data. Results showed features data correctly predicted by represented cup-and-ball single rigid mass coupled hand impedance. These findings provide evidence use simplified along mechanical impedance manipulate

One of the most exciting new developments in systems neuroscience is progress being made toward neurophysiological experiments that move beyond simplified laboratory settings and address richness natural behavior. This enabled by technological advances such as wireless recording freely moving animals, automated quantification behavior, methods for analyzing large data sets. Beyond empirical data, however, there also a need theories concepts to interpret data. Such particular challenges which often differ significantly from scenarios studied traditional settings. Here, we discuss some strategies developing novel example hypotheses proposed.

Recent years have seen an explosion of interest in naturalistic behaviour and machine learning tools for automatically tracking it. However, questions about what to measure, how measure it, relate neural activity cognitive processes remain unresolved. In this Perspective, we propose a general experimental computational framework - kinematic coding measuring information states is encoded structured patterns read out by others during social interactions. This enables the design new experiments generation testable hypotheses that link behaviour, cognition, at single-trial level. Researchers can employ identify single-subject, encoding readout computations address meaningful bodily motion transmitted communicated.

Marigold flowers, which are also known as Tagetes erecta L., widely recognized for their bright colors and health benefits. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to investigate quality total carotenoid content (TCC) quercetin in marigold specifically edible ones, using visible near‐infrared spectroscopy (Vis‐NIRS) technology. Both bioactive compounds these flowers were assessed Vis‐NIRS. The technology is considered be a rapid non‐destructive method evaluating agricultural products. To ensure accuracy evaluation, Vis‐NIRS validated against conventional methods such spectrophotometry chromatography. results showed that use helped accurately determine levels TCC flowers. Based on analysis results, best values follows: correlation coefficient calibration set ( R cal ) 0.94, root mean square error (RMSEC) 125.57, prediction pred 0.87, (RMSEP) 129.35, ratio deviation (RPD) 2.77. For quercetin, were: 0.96, RMSEC 1.63, 0.88, RMSEP 2.37, RPD 2.09. These demonstrate provides reliable alternative destructive method. served assurance tool assessing

The current study sought to advance our understanding of the connections between stress, perceived control, affect, and physiology in daily life. To achieve this goal, we integrated hourly ambulatory physiological experiential data from young adult participants who experienced work or academic stressors over course a day. Participants wore cardiovascular monitor that recorded heart rate continuously for 8 h while random Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) were collected personally relevant settings via mobile phones learn about affect. findings provide critical by demonstrating clear evidence moderation wherein affective wellbeing was strongly associated with when one stressor outside their control. innovative approach utilized real-world provides further support value integrating individuals' self-report experiences (e.g., role control), as information gained can insights into stress rate) negative affect) connections. present thus literature connecting on streams. Understanding behavior and its evolutionary underpinnings is crucial for unraveling the complexities of brain function. Traditional approaches strive to reduce behavioral complexity by designing short-term, highly constrained tasks with dichotomous choices in which animals respond defined external perturbation. In contrast, natural behaviors evolve over multiple time scales during actions are selected through bidirectional interactions environment without human intervention. Recent technological advancements have opened up new possibilities experimental designs that more closely mirror replacing stringent control accurate multidimensional analysis. However, these been tailored fit only a small number species. This specificity limits opportunities offered species diversity. Further, it hampers comparative analyses essential extracting overarching principles examining from an perspective. To address this limitation, we developed ReptiLearn—a versatile, low-cost, Python-based solution, optimized conducting automated long-term experiments home cage reptiles, addition, system offers unique features such as precise temperature measurement control, live prey reward dispensers, engagement touch screens, remote user-friendly web interface. Finally, ReptiLearn incorporates low-latency closed-loop feedback allowing between their environments.
