Abstract In our previous study, cuminaldehyde triggered oxidative stress to inhibit growth of Penicillium digitatum in citrus fruit. Here, we examined the molecular mechanism by which it inhibited P. . Results revealed a decline content glutathione and catalase activity from 10 20 min, respectively. Transcriptome proteome data disclosed downregulation proteins integral mitochondrial electron transport chain (mETC) complexes I, IV, V, transmembrane transporters. Catalase, regulators transcription replication, biosynthesis folate were also downregulated. These confirmed RT‐qPCR analysis. Reduced expression mETC signaled possible damage inner membrane. This was membrane potential with concomitant cellular ATP levels. Complex I increased min corresponded onset rise superoxide dismutase activity. The results suggest that instigated anion radicle production initially complex while limiting ability cells scavenge accumulating ROS reducing catalase. possibly achieved metabolism associated reduced involved biosynthesis.

The present study reported the discovery of sesterdiaporate (SES), a structurally unique antifungal sesterterpene lactone from Diaporthe sp. HT-79. SES exhibited pronounced inhibitory effect on spore germination and mycelial growth Penicillium italicum, with median effective concentrations (EC50) 0.37 0.079 μg/mL, respectively. This was significantly more than that observed prochloraz (0.74 6.83 respectively). Treatment resulted in swelling both spores mycelia P. italicum as well an increase cell membrane permeability. Further investigation suggested may disrupt glycosylphosphatidylinositol biosynthesis, ultimately leading to death. In vivo tests navel orange fruit showed reducing diameter lesions caused by lesion inhibition percentage 49.4% at concentration 3.7 which superior (14.2% same concentration).

Orange oil has antibacterial properties for uses in food and pharmaceutical industries. This study evaluated the efficacy of orange dip applications treatment periods protective curative effects against Botrytis cinerea, (which causes grey mould on plums strawberries), Penicillium digitatum, responsible green citrus. Pure two oil-based formulations (OR007B OR79) were tested inoculated fruit, at concentrations from 0.05% to 1.00%, compared fungicides fludioxonil 300 mg. L-1 B. or imazalil 500 µg mL-1 P. respective South African registered doses these fungicides. treatments failed control lemons oranges, with disease incidence exceeding 90% even after 120 sec exposure. Two plum cultivars had different susceptibilities mould, reduced (24 14%) as concentration increased cv. Delight, outperforming 1% (24%). The OR007B OR79 both gave low 0.5% resulting up 12% (from OR007B) 17% OR79). Cv. Laetitia, contrast, >60% across all treatments, including fludioxonil. Protective showed similar trends cultivars.
