The modification of pristine biochar derived from the waste sweet prickly pear using green method to produce nano-sized (nanobiochar) for removal steroidal hormones and heavy metals water wastewater is reported in this study. Biologging has significantly advanced ecological biology by enabling the collection of data from free-roaming animals in their natural habitats. Traditionally, these measurements have largely been limited to temperature, pressure, and movement. Incorporating physiological animal biomarkers could yield valuable orthogonal sets, providing a more nuanced understanding organisms context environments behaviors. Despite this potential, successful such biochemical information remains absent thus motivates new sensor platforms. Toward end, we explore hardware nanosensor optimization implantable sensors for tracking hormone levels marine animals. The transducer element is based on polymer-wrapped single-walled carbon nanotubes that act as nanosensors embedded within biocompatible poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate hydrogel. This work investigates performance hydrogel under various temperatures, illumination conditions, nanoparticle concentrations We further prototype miniaturized fluorescent system integration into existing, commercially available acoustic tags widely used studies. demonstrate baseline 100 nM detection limit progesterone an example important using integrated platform. Further improvement possible with signal-to-noise ratio via development. developed form-factor will complement presently collected insights state behavior environments.

Abstract All organisms require the ability to engage in either sexual or asexual reproduction order ensure their own survival. In aquaculture, when one sex outgrows other faster, farmers use hormones stimulate growth. Furthermore, production of fish based on dimorphism is predominantly executed through utilization estrogens and androgens. Environmentally, these compounds may pollute ecosystem cause endocrine system alterations that harmful effects; thus, they must be handled carefully assure environmental, biological, food safety. Phytoestrogens as natural non-steroidal phenolic plant chemicals resemble 17-β-estradiol, could employed a safe alternative source estrogens. The phytoestrogens have many biological effects due compete with estrogen receptors, but negatively affect production, reproduction, behaviors under controlled conditions. Thus, current literature emphasizes beneficial aquatic animal performance, behaviors, some reproductive features.

Water contamination has become a global challenge to human survival. Non-biodegradable heavy metal cations and steroid hormones could accumulate in the body result serious health problems. In this study, we prepared biochar from waste shells of African star apples modified using solvent-free ball milling facile method. The X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS) Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis revealed functional groups C=C, C-O, C=O. Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET) was used determine surface area, area ball-milled obtained at 550 °C (BASA550) increased 174 m2/g 304 after modification. Langmuir Freundlich adsorption isotherms best described experimental data with RL < 1 1/n high degree agreement R2 data; (R2 = 0.9291-0.9992) 0.9077-0.9974). kinetic studies pseudo-first-order pseudo-second-order models that model accurately process). application BASA550 for treating wastewater samples showed good percentage removal. removal cadmium, nickel, lead recorded as 92.96%, 90.89%, 90.29%, respectively. influent effluent were found be 85.06%, 83.87%, 84.73%, 89.37%, 86.48%, 87.40%, maximum ultrapure water ranged 84.20 89.63%, while spiked 78.91-87.81% 73.58-84.51% obtained. reusability investigated adsorbent had potential first four cycles.
