Abstract
Autism
spectrum
disorder
(ASD)
is
a
heterogeneous,
lifelong
neurodevelopmental
disorder.
One
in
five
infant
siblings
of
children
with
ASD
later
receive
an
diagnosis.
With
the
aim
early
detection
and
intervention,
Infant
Brain
Imaging
Study
Network
conducted
magnetic
resonance
imaging
(MRI)
studies
siblings,
typically
during
sleep,
recently
cited
aberrant
visual
brain
development
as
potential
MRI
marker
ASD.
Event-related
functional
findings
showed
that
rapid
eye
movements
(REMs)
sleep
index
processing
endogenous
information,
i.e.,
hierarchical
generation
percepts.
REM-locked
peak
activation
sites
neural
overlap
extensively
those
reported
to
be
atypical
autism.
Simply
timing
REMs
may
improve
accuracy
detection,
