Constructed wetlands (CWs) are nature-based solutions that utilize natural vegetation, soils, and microbes to treat domestic wastewater industrial effluents. They engineered treatment systems mimic the functions of capture stormwater, reduce nutrient loads, create diverse wildlife habitats. Providing these monetary non-monetary benefits, its implementation has grown in several applications geographical spread. Recent studies integrate ecosystem services CWs project valuation, critical analysis research hotspots not been made yet. This study employs a systematic review analyze literature on provided by how they incorporated into valuation CW projects. Among have identified provisioning (biomass water supply), regulating (wastewater purification, climate regulation, flood prevention, erosion control), cultural (recreation aesthetic, biodiversity, education, research), supporting (habitat formation, cycling, hydrological cycle). In terms methods techniques, results contingent shadow pricing, cost–benefit analysis, benefits transfer, habitat evaluation procedures, replacement cost, travel cost. The provide researchers with concrete basis for future directions further development. also provides policymakers planners valuable insights various aspects policy support adoption valuation.

Abstract Air pollutant removal by urban vegetation is perceived to be a key ecosystem service for mitigating air pollution. However, the effectiveness of phytoremediation in cities requires more synthesis inform environmental management. A Bayesian meta-analysis approach was used quantify typical pollutants—particle matter (PM), nitrogen oxide (NO x ), sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ) and ozone (O 3 )—by synthesizing global field measurement studies. The results revealed that can mitigate growth concentrations, with reduction rates 16.5~26.7% PM, 13.9~36.2% NO , 20.5~47.8% SO . they failed significantly ground-level O corresponding an increase 5.1~25.9%. variability effect sizes mainly influenced distance nearest highway, ambient concentration, relative humidity, green coverage. questionnaire survey conducted Shenzhen city (China) showed most managers supposed positive impacts on all four pollutants, which at odds our findings respect This study lessening discrepancies between scientific research managers’ perceptions how improve pollution mitigation China elsewhere.

Abstract In the last few years, urban trees have emerged as an effective nature‐based solution to mitigate increasing air pollutant levels due urbanization and industrialization. This study aims assess synergistic effect of on improving quality by combining real‐time PM 2.5 monitoring with i‐Tree Eco model. The was conducted during rush hours high traffic volume non‐rush hours, in both tree alley a non‐tree road section within industrial areas north‐west region National Capital Territory Delhi, India. model run using diameter at breast height values species present area, reduction ability quantified. results from approaches indicated that can significantly reduce traffic‐fed concentrations. Therefore, it is suggested plantations be integrated into pollution management strategies urbanized regions volumes. Although this explores initial link between further research incorporating local wind speed direction measurements would provide more comprehensive understanding how influence any highly polluted setting.

The concept and application of nature-based solutions (NBS) have been rapidly progressing in Europe Latin America, reflecting a transition the way that urban governance is perceived. There large call for collaborative, polycentric, interdisciplinary NBS. However, research on options operationalising these processes different contexts still insufficient. This study explores analyses operationalisation NBS adaptive America. Seven cities are part project EU-H2020 CONEXUS selected as case studies: Barcelona, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Lisbon, Santiago de Chile, São Paulo, Turin. contribution aims to (i) understand how managed; (ii) identify main positive negative factors influence governance; (iii) common relationships can hinder or drive forward investigated contexts. results revealed priorities indicating shared pathway America; however, context-dependent specificities were also observed. These findings be used support both European American developing plans actions more efficient enabling implementation through governance.
