Household food waste is an intractable policy issue because of its multi-faceted nature. Fruit and vegetable makes up the largest part household waste. However, behaviours driving consumer fresh produce have been less explored. This study analyses behavioural socio-demographic factors affecting fruit in Australia. It uses a nationally representative sample (n = 1462) that completed 7-day electronic diary recording amount The findings indicate that, on average, discards 35.2 kg avoidable fruits vegetables annually. A higher frequency grocery shopping purchases takeaway associated with waste, whilst use list lower Older adults, couples women are more likely to experience incidence wastage at home. These helpful when developing interventions reduce households.

Based on the high volume of research pertaining to household food waste (FW) generation, a significant proportion existing studies present findings that lack comparability and general transferability, largely due their confinement individual countries or regions. Likewise, results frequently exhibit considerable variability cross-study incongruities. Merging into broader scoping reviews can elucidate underlying reasons for this between studies, enhance overall generalizability findings, subsequently expand applicability. The current review pooled analysis examined FW generation data from high-income using Population Concept Context (PCC) framework, identifying analyzing empirical 2010 2022. Overall, 56 24 were identified, resulting in mean 42.86 kg/cap/yr. Asia-Pacific region exhibited highest (70.28 kg/cap/yr), while Europe had lowest (34.45 kg/cap/yr). Within Europe, non-EU reported higher volumes (56.88 kg/cap/yr) than EU member states (34.33 Methods involving self-measurement by householders recorded lower compared those measured third parties (FW researchers). Fruits vegetables most discarded items, with 18.75 kg/cap/yr 32.34% total volumes. presented highlights importance considering study methodology, location, composition when interpreting data. It also serves useful tool designing improving quality going forward.
