According to literature data, some of the main factors which significantly affect quality indoor environment in residential households or apartments are human activities such as cooking, smoking, cleaning, and exercising. The paper presents a overview related air everyday use spaces dedicated specific purposes integral parts buildings, kitchens, basements, individual garages. Some aspects large-scale car parks, type environment, also discussed. All those areas characterized by relatively short time use. On other hand, high very concentration levels xenobiotics can be observed, resulting higher exposure risk. compounds group chemical presented influencing amount pollutants present indicated.

Poor air quality is a leading contributor to the global disease burden and total number of deaths worldwide. Humans spend most their time in built environments where majority inhalation exposure occurs. Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) challenged by outdoor pollution entering indoors through ventilation infiltration indoor emission sources. The aim this study was understand current knowledge level gaps regarding effective approaches improve IAQ. Emission regulations currently focus on emissions, whereas quantitative understanding emissions from sources generally lacking. Therefore, specific need be identified, characterized, quantified according environmental human health impact. should stored terms relevant metrics statistics an easily accessible format that applicable for source assessment using mathematical mass balance modelings. This forms foundation comprehensive risk efficient interventions. For such general model we 1) systematic methods aerosol assessment, 2) documentation a) b) biological metrics, 3) default parameterization predictive modeling, 4) other needs related characterization techniques modeling methods. Such can private, public, occupational making it valuable tool public professionals, product safety designers, industrial hygienists, building scientists, consultants working field IAQ health.

There is growing awareness that indoor exposure to particulate matter with diameter ≤ 2.5 μm (PM2.5 ) associated an increased risk of adverse health effects. Cooking a key source PM2.5 and activity conducted daily in most homes. Population scale models can predict occupant exposures , but these predictions are sensitive the emission rates used. The global spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has challenged most countries worldwide. It was quickly recognized that reduced activities (lockdowns) during the Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic produced major changes in air quality. Our objective to assess impacts COVID-19 lockdowns on ground-level PM2.5, NO2, and O3 concentrations a scale. We obtained data from 34 countries, 141 cities, 458 monitoring stations 5 continents (few Africa). On average basis, 34.0% reduction NO2 concentration 15.0% PM2.5 were estimated strict lockdown period (until April 30, 2020). Global increased by 86.0% this same period. Individual country continent-wise comparisons have been made between business-as-usual periods. Universally, pollutant affected pandemic. These effects likely because its emissions sources typically restricted (i.e., surface traffic non-essential industries) short lifetime atmosphere. results indicate measures resulting exposure harmful pollutants could provide global-scale health benefits. However, may substantially those benefits more detailed assessments are required accurately quantify gains. At same, these restrictions at substantial economic costs with other issues (depression, suicide, spousal abuse, drug overdoses, etc.). Thus, any similar reductions pollution would need be without extensive consequences imposed activity reductions.

Abstract. To elucidate the molecular chemical compositions, volatility–polarity distributions, and influencing factors of Chinese cooking emissions, a comprehensive emission experiment was conducted. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), intermediate volatility, semi-volatile (I/SVOCs) from fumes were analysed by thermal desorption two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled with quadrupole mass spectrometer (TD-GC × GC-qMS). Emissions four typical dishes, i.e. fried chicken, Kung Pao pan-fried tofu, stir-fried cabbage investigated to illustrate impact style material. Fumes chicken corn, peanut, soybean, sunflower oils demonstrate influence oil. A total 201 chemicals quantified. emitted more pollutants than other dishes due its rather intense method. Aromatics oxygenated extensively detected among meat-related fumes, while vegetable-related profile observed in emissions cabbage. Ozone formation potential (OFP) dominated VOC range. Of secondary aerosol (SOA) estimation, 10.2 %–32.0 % could be explained S/IVOCs. Pixel-based partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) multiway principal component (MPCA) utilized for sample classification identification. The results indicated that oil factor variance compositions factor. MPCA emphasize importance unsaturated fatty acid-alkadienal-volatile products mechanism (oil autoxidation) accelerated heating procedure.

Indoor air in residential dwellings can contain a variety of chemicals, sometimes present at concentrations or combinations which have negative impact on human health. Air Quality (IAQ) surveys are often required to characterize exposure investigate IAQ concerns and complaints. Such should include sufficient contextual information elucidate sources, pathways, the magnitude exposures. The aim this review was describe parameters that affect dwellings: building location, layout, ventilation, finishing materials, occupant activities, demography. About 180 peer-reviewed articles, published from 01/2013 09/2021 (plus some important earlier publications), were reviewed. importance largely depends study objectives whether focus is specific pollutant assess health risk. When considering classical pollutants such as particulate matter (PM) volatile organic compounds (VOCs), significant IAQ, detailed these needs be reported each study. Research gaps suggestions for future studies together with recommendation where measurements done also provided.
