Antimony (Sb) poses a significant threat to human health due sharp increases in its exploitation and application globally, but few studies have explored the pathophysiological mechanisms of acute hepatotoxicity induced by Sb exposure. We established an vivo model comprehensively explore endogenous underlying liver injury short-term Adult female male Sprague-Dawley rats were orally administrated various concentrations potassium antimony tartrate for 28 days. After exposure, serum concentration, liver-to-body weight ratio, glucose levels significantly increased dose-dependent manner. Body gain biomarkers hepatic (e.g., total cholesterol, protein, alkaline phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferase/alanine aminotransferase ratio) decreased with increasing Through integrative non-targeted metabolome lipidome analyses, alanine, aspartate, glutamate metabolism; phosphatidylcholines; sphingomyelins; phosphatidylinositols most affected pathways exposed Sb. Additionally, correlation analysis showed that certain metabolites lipids deoxycholic acid, N-methylproline, palmitoylcarnitine, glycerophospholipids, sphingomyelins, glycerol) associated biomarkers, indicating metabolic remodeling may be involved apical hepatotoxicity. Our study demonstrated exposure induces hepatotoxicity, possibly through glycolipid metabolism disorder, providing important reference risks pollution.

Epidemiological studies about the effect of essential metal mixture on fasting plasma glucose (FPG) levels among elderly people are sparse. The object this study was to examine associations single metals and with FPG in Chinese community-dwelling people. The recruited 2348 total. Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry adopted detect vanadium (V), selenium (Se), magnesium (Mg), cobalt (Co), calcium (Ca), molybdenum (Mo) urine. relationships between were evaluated by linear regression Bayesian kernel machine (BKMR) models, respectively. In multiple-metal urine V Mg negatively related (β = - 0.016, 95 % CI: 0.030 0.003 for V; β 0.021, 0.033 0.009 Mg), Se positively 0.024, 0.014-0.034). In BKMR model, significant also found. associated a dose-response pattern, had maximum posterior inclusion probability (PIP) value (PIP 1.0000), followed 0.9968). Besides, Co showed association decreased older adults without hyperlipemia women. Both levels, individually as mixture. displayed relationship reduced having largest contribution Se. Further prospective investigations necessary validate these exploratory findings.

Background Despite the rapid increase in global prevalence of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD), there are no approved therapeutic drugs for MAFLD yet. Nutrient supplementation might mitigate risk MAFLD. It is more typical individuals to consume multiple nutrients simultaneously. However, studies exploring combined effects on limited. This study aimed investigate relationship between both individual and their influence Methods Data were obtained from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), 18 types considered this study. Logistic regression analysis was performed evaluate correlation single The Least Absolute Shrinkage Selection Operator (LASSO) pinpoint most relevant nutrient associated with Subsequently, Weighted Quantile Sum (WQS) g-computation (Qgcomp) used assess Results A total 3,069 participants included LASSO showed that Se, α-tocopherol, γ-tocopherol exhibited a positive association In contrast, serum levels Co, P, α-cryptoxanthin, LZ, trans-β-carotene inversely When Se two vitamin E excluded, WQS index significant inverse remaining 15 MAFLD; α-cryptoxanthin substantial contribution. Similarly, Qgcomp suggested these lower MAFLD, possessing negative weights. Conclusion complex either low proportion or without them should be recommended patients reduce its risk.
