Monitoring the environment for pollution, pesticides, and pathogens is crucial protecting human, agriculture, overall ecosystem health. Diverse strategies ranging from physical sensors to sentinel species have been used environmental monitoring. The European honey bee, Apis mellifera, a globally managed pollinator that can serve as continuous biomonitoring species. During foraging, bees are exposed contaminants carry them their hives where they be detected quantified. Although individual vulnerable stressors, bee colony whole more resilient accumulate or respond without collapsing. This allows long-term monitoring of map in geographical area study ecotoxicology gradients over space time. In this paper, we review demonstrated proposed uses We focus our discussion on heavy metals, air pollutants, plant hive materials including honey, wax, stored pollen. present use gene expression, microbiome profiling, other high-throughput methodologies dose-dependent exposure increase detection sensitivity; example, pollen analysis with next generation sequencing reveal presence viruses, fungi, invasive earlier than traditional methods. Finally, discuss opportunities using monitor emerging threats such climate change antimicrobial resistance. narrative highlights versatility potential utility

Numerous honeybee (Apis mellifera) products, such as honey, propolis, and bee venom, are used in traditional medicine to prevent illness promote healing. Therefore, this insect has a huge impact on humans’ way of life the environment. While population A. mellifera is large, there concern that widespread commercialization beekeeping, combined with environmental pollution action pathogens, caused significant problems for health populations. One strategies preserve welfare honeybees better understand protect their natural microbiota. This paper provides unique overview latest research features functioning mellifera. Honeybee microbiome analysis focuses both function numerous factors affecting it. In addition, we present characteristics lactic acid bacteria (LAB) an important part gut community special beneficial activities health. The idea probiotics promising tool improve widely discussed. Knowledge microbiota opportunity create broad strategy vitality, including development modern probiotic preparations use instead conventional antibiotics, environmentally friendly biocides, biological control agents.

In recent years, new targets have been included between the health outcomes induced by pesticide exposure. The gastrointestinal tract is a key physical and biological barrier it represents primary site of exposure to toxic agents. Recently, intestinal microbiota has emerged as notable factor regulating pesticides’ toxicity. However, specific mechanisms related this interaction are not well known. review, we discuss influence on gut microbiota, discussing factors influencing microbial diversity, summarize updated literature. conclusion, more studies needed clarify host–microbial relationship concerning define prevention interventions, such identification biomarkers mucosal function.

Synthetic pesticides are extensively and injudiciously applied to control agriculture household pests worldwide. Due their high use, toxic residues have enormously increased in the agroecosystem past several years. They caused many severe threats non-target organisms, including humans. Therefore, complete removal of compounds is gaining wide attention protect ecosystem diversity living organisms. Several methods, such as physical, chemical biological, degrade compounds, but compared other biological methods considered more efficient, fast, eco-friendly less expensive. In particular, employing microbial species purified enzymes makes degradation pollutants accessible converts them into non-toxic products by metabolic pathways. The digestive tract insects usually known a superior organ that provides nutrient-rich environment hundreds perform pivotal role various physiological ecological functions. There direct relationship between insect pests: reduce growth alter phyla located gut microbiome. comparison, microbiota tries changing toxicity, increasing production regulation diverse range enzymes. These breakdown derivatives, utilize sole source carbon, sulfur energy. resistance (carbamates, pyrethroids, organophosphates, organochlorines, neonicotinoids) developed mechanisms, expression detoxifying genes guts. This review summarizes effects agrochemicals on humans, animals, birds beneficial arthropods. It explores preferential process mechanism species. Additionally, pathways been systematically discussed better understand xenobiotics

Abstract Recent studies highlighted that exposure to glyphosate can affect specific members of the core gut microbiota honey bee workers. However, in this study, bees were exposed relatively high concentrations. Here, we chronically newly emerged imidacloprid, and difenoconazole, individually a ternary mixture, at an environmental concentration 0.1 µg/L. We studied effects these exposures on establishment microbiota, physiological status, longevity, food consumption host. The bacterial species not affected by three pesticides. Negative observed but they restricted few transient non-core species. absence pesticides induced disruption directly altering detoxification system, antioxidant defenses, metabolism Our study indicates even mild alter homeostasis particularly if individuals exhibit dysbiosis (i.e. mostly lack microbiota). This highlights importance early healthy community strengthen natural defenses against xenobiotic stressors.
