Analyzing the spatial variation characteristics of heavy metals in soil and identifying their sources is crucial for preventing, controlling, managing regional environmental pollution. In this study, 5778 surface samples were collected from Nanyang Basin. The content five (As, Cr, Cd, Hg, Pb) determined analyzed. distribution these investigated using inverse distance interpolation autocorrelation analysis. Additionally, qualitatively quantitatively explored through PCA PMF models. results revealed that mean values all elements, except As exceeded country background values. Spatially, metal elements showed evident heterogeneity autocorrelation, with obvious differences between western eastern regions, where concentrations generally higher west lower east. Four identified study area: mining sources, natural transportation a combined source atmospheric deposition agricultural activities. element was primarily derived (80.90%). Cr influenced by multiple factors, mainly (66.20%) (31.80%).Transportation (46.30%) (44.80%) primary influences on Cd. Pb (64.70%) (18.11%). Hg both coal combustion activities (90.50%).
