Glass foams and glass-ceramic exhibit great potential in insulating buildings, consequently reducing the necessity for heating or cooling, ultimately contributing to energy saving. In this study, we prepared utilizing silicate glass as starting material CaCO3 foaming agent through a thermochemical process. Foams with varying degrees of relative crystallinity were produced by controlling temperature duration isothermal heat treatment. The mechanism glass-ceramics is discussed analyzing how flow, mass, volume evolve within powder mixture during dynamic heating. crystallization did not show any clear trend on compressive strength foams. On other hand, thermal conductivity increases crystallinity. calculated solid shows minimum at low (<20%). These findings are crucial designing high performance insulation, potentially also fabricating using waste glasses.
