Background: The contamination of ambulances with pathogenic agents represents a potential threat for the public health, not only common pathogens but also severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). aim this project was to exploits germicidal effect UVC radiation at 254 nm sanitize patient’s compartment an advanced UltraViolet SANitizing System (UV-SAN) and assess its relevance avoiding spread COVID-19 other drug resistant pathogens. Methods: system is equipped lamps that are activated when ambulance empty environment in less than 15 min. An Ozone sensor continuously monitors gas concentration, ensuring it does exceed threshold value harmful patients operators’ health. relying on GNSS data satellite communication link, which allow monitor record traceability (when, where what) all sanitation operations performed. This information real-time monitored from dedicated web-application. Results: irradiation efficiently reduced SARS-CoV-2 virus titer (>99.99%), inanimate surfaces such as plastic, stainless steel or rubber, doses ranging 5.5 24.8 mJ/cm2 UV-SAN effective against multi (MDR) bacteria up >99.99%, after 10 30 min irradiation. Conclusions: can provide rapid, efficient sustainable sanitization procedures ambulances.

Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB), which belonged to global clones 1 (GC1) or 2 (GC2), has been widely reported and become a threat. However, non-GC1 non-GC2 CRAB strains are not well-studied, especially for those with rare phenotype. Here, one pyomelanin-producing strain (A. DETAB-R21) was isolated from oral swab in the ICU. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing showed it resistant carbapenems, ceftazidime, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin. DETAB-R21 ST164Pas ST1418Oxf KL47 OCL5, respectively. Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) analysis revealed chromosome contained three copies of blaOXA-23 on 4,805-bp Tn2006 composite transposons various novel 9-bp target site duplications (TSD). A Tn125-like structure, including blaNDM-1, 4,343 bp transposon encoding blaCARB-16, prophage regions were also identified. Importantly, hmgA interrupted by contributed pyomelanin production further confirmed overexpression. Furthermore, A. irradiated UV light, higher relatively survival rate compared control that did produce pyomelanin. No effects observed disinfectants susceptibility, growth, virulence. We present a wirelessly powered ultraviolet-C (UVC) radiation-based disinfecting bandage for sterilization and treatment in chronic wound care management. The contains embedded low-power UV light-emitting diodes (LEDs) the 265 to 285 nm range with light emission controlled via microcontroller.
