ABSTRACT Green-grey infrastructures' implementation has progressed significantly in cities around the globe for sustainable stormwater management. This review study conducted on green-grey optimization represented recent research trends, existing status, possible gaps, and future directions recommendations needed further improvements. The findings show that infrastructures got significant attention recently (after 2012) because of accessibility to computational resources development hydrological-hydraulic models algorithms. Furthermore, is mostly ten countries including China, USA Iran ranked first three places, respectively, delivering their advantages other with essential awareness knowledge. Most previous studies considered particular quantitative qualitative objectives these were at smaller retrofitting scales, therefore, need expand scope towards socio-ecological consideration larger areas or multi-stage planning, designing, implementation. Moreover, recommended consider stakeholders’ participation preliminary planning designing stages successful management approaches. Lastly, surrogate-based approaches instead traditional methods can overcome burden time future.

Stormwater runoff control is often a concern due to urbanization and extreme rainfall events. Sustainable urban drainage systems can support traditional hydraulic networks in rainwater management by providing local disposal reuse of collected stormwater. Cities worldwide are facing a significant threat of stormwater hazards caused by the increase in extreme downpours and urbanization. Meso-level urban management focuses on alleviating detrimental impacts flooding enhancing water resource utilization at block or community scale, typically through 1) specific policies rules; 2) catchment-scale scenario simulation, optimization evaluation; 3) group control measures implementation. It may effectively coordinate macro-level planning micro-level distributed facilities. This study conducts review Urban Stormwater Management (USM-M) with view to research publication trends, citation analysis, geographic spread subject category, as well content including temporal progression gaps.
