Rapid urban expansion has significantly altered the regional landscape pattern, posing a serious threat to sustainable development of natural and social ecosystems. By using patterns indices an area transfer matrix, this study analyzed spatial-temporal changes in karst mountainous cities southwest China from 2000 2020, by taking central Guiyang City (CUAG) as area. This explored spatial temporal driving factors pattern stepwise multiple linear regression geographic detector methods. The results show: (1) CUAG’s types changed drastically, with forestland construction land rapid increment cultivated decrement significantly. (2) patches tended be aggregated, degree fragmentation was reduced, shape complex; intensified. connectivity improved, while level diversity declined, trend homogenization obvious. Abstract Forest conservation and restoration are key components of ecological engineering. Previous studies often focused on the forest impact vegetation greening, ignoring importance conservation, link between remains unclear. Abstract Degradation exacerbates food and water insecurity, economic hardship, biodiversity loss, the devastating effects of climate change. Given that ecosystem restoration is a global challenge, United Nations declared 2021 to 2030 as Decade Ecosystem Restoration. Many ecological projects overlook social perspectives, resulting in unsuccessful outcomes within Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR). Against this background, we review social-ecological frameworks summarize seven key balanced drivers could help enhance adoption dynamic context. The relate including most affected communities, privileging local knowledge practices, empowering representatives opinion leaders, ensuring environmental justice equity, targeting deep leverage points, aligning practices with needs aspirations, connecting neighboring communities. We argue will be effective if approached from perspective. In developing countries, establishing groups share savings credit structures households can sustainable approach. With increasing initiatives, taking perspective on approach offers new opportunities for both research practice. Social-ecological strategy support achievement development goals (SDGs) deliver net positive gains environmentally, socially, economically. Further studies should focus two cross-cutting aspects: at small large scales peace building restorative landscape.

Karst areas are sensitive to environmental changes due their fragile ecological environments. It is imperative explore the temporal and spatial variations in characteristics of vegetation net primary productivity (NPP) evaluate influence different driving factors on NPP.
