Fish are among the best-studied aquatic animals due to their economic and ecological values. meat is most affordable protein source for economically weaker section of people. The environment almost all ecosystems has a specific influential role on or by fishes. Therefore, studying stress biology, especially oxidative stress, vital because it can influence growth, production, reproduction, etc. To review above topic, peer-reviewed electronic databases, including Web Science, science direct, PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, AGRICOLA, were searched with keywords associated fish, diseases, abiotic such as effects water dissolved oxygen, temperature, salinity, hardness, alkalinity, pH, pollutants, heavy metals, anthropogenic activities, was reviewed in current article draw conclusion updated relation that exists between fish physiology, disease, stressors. Oxidative redox regulatory levels under parameters anti-stress responses differ various models. Undoubtedly, factors modulate health status greater extent, therefore, these must be considered priority basis improve general immunity fish. statement remains valid both saline freshwater habitats.

Anthropogenic noise pollution has been accelerating at an alarming rate, greatly altering aquatic soundscapes. Animals use various mechanisms to avoid acoustic masking in noisy environments, including calling rates or the frequency (pitch) of their vocalizations increasing amplitude (loudness) (i.e., exhibiting Lombard effect), but few studies have examined this vocal plasticity fishes. We tested effects situ motorboat on agonistic and mating nesting plainfin midshipman fish (Porichthys notatus), found that reduce alter presence boat noise. This study provides temporo-spatial characterisation of the underwater soundscape in proximity a relatively newly installed offshore gas-production platform North Sea’s Dogger Bank Special Area Conservation, recorded by Static Acoustic Monitoring at different distances from wellhead (70 m, 5 Km and 10 km). Long-Term Spectrogram Analysis percentile Power Spectral Densities demonstrated strong acoustic similarity between sites; no biophonic acoustic-mass phenomena were present. All locations characterized Underwater Radiated Noise, concentrated < 2 kHz, which dominated soundscape. This paper outlines my research path over three decades while providing a review on the role of fish sounds in mate choice and reproduction. It also intends to provide advice young scientists point toward future avenues this field research. An overview studies different model species shows that male mating acoustic signals can inform females competitors about their size (dominant frequency, amplitude, sound pulse rate modulation), body condition (calling activity rate), readiness rate, number pulses sound). At least with parental care, such as toadfishes, gobies, pomacentrids, calling seems be main driver reproductive success. Playback experiments ran restricted consistently revealed prefer vocal silent males select for higher rates. personal synthesis concludes suggestion increase knowledge signals, especially considering emerging use monitor aquatic environments due increasing threats, like noise pollution.

Abstract Seismic airgun surveys to map petroleum deposits in the seabed may impact behaviour of marine animals over large distances. Understanding whether fish spawning is affected by this anthropogenic noise source important because reproductive success be impacted. The fine-scale behavioural responses Atlantic cod exposure an extended period were investigated using acoustic telemetry positioning system on a ground Norway. During 2019 2021, 135 equipped with sensor tags and exposed shooting during periods 2020 varying received sound levels comparable full-scale survey at distances 5 >40 km. Cod demonstrated only weak disturbance from repeated 3-h treatment 5-d, swimming average slightly deeper seismic compared silent control periods. This response varied between individuals. Longer-term effects depth not detected. No changes acceleration, displacement, or area use occurred. These results suggest that relatively distant do substantially alter 115 145 dB re 1 µPa2s 5-d period.

Abstract Elevated levels of anthropogenic noise, especially those observed through boating activity, can negatively impact fish species, but it remains unclear which species are most affected and behavioural metrics best used in assessing responses to underwater noise. The effects boat sounds on freshwater particular interest because environments less studied than the marine realm despite comparably high biodiversity. In current study, we examine noise two that differ their hypothesised response sound inputs: spottail shiner ( Notropis hudsonius ), a with known hearing specialisations, bluegill sunfish Lepomis macrochirus more generalised capabilities. Fish were presented laboratory setting, swimming, escape foraging behaviours assessed differential relation abilities. Both showed decrease general swimming an increase erratic movements indicative stress for both species. Despite similarities based however, only shiners exhibited true onset stimulus, suggesting extreme reaction refined ability. Taken together, these results show respond increased severity may auditory structures therefore presumed differences seen between (swimming vs. responses) also demonstrate how care must be taken choosing metric when developing exposure guidelines exposures, as different could lead assessments.
