Abstract This study aimed to conduct a cost-benefit analysis of an innovative large-scale treated wastewater reuse for indirect groundwater recharge project that was implemented in the Kolar district Southern India. The cost and agricultural benefits were obtained from various government organizations. results indicate considerable increase cropped land area productivity after recycling period. assured supply water resulted significant improvements area, cropping intensities, leading higher revenues. Additionally, there boost milk collection related revenues, as well 6-fold silk cocoon production. Year-round filled tanks > 25-fold fish production, Furthermore, had positive impact on employment opportunities, promoting sustainability, local economy, environmental responsibility. confirmed project's exceeded costs, with net present value ₹40,100 million rupees @ 5% ₹27,103 @8% interest rates fixed capital cost, benefit-cost ratio 5.30 (@ 5%) 4.26 8%). could significantly enhance agro-economic system ensure food security circular economy.

Aquifer health assessment is essential for sustainable groundwater management, particularly in semi-arid regions with challenging geological conditions. This study presents a novel methodology assessing aquifer the Barakar River Basin, hard-rock terrain, by integrating tree-based classification, deep learning, and Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model. Employing Random Forest, Decision Tree, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models, research examines 20 influential factors, including hydrological, water quality, socioeconomic variables, to classify into four categories: Good, Moderately Semi-Critical, Critical. The CNN model exhibited highest predictive accuracy, identifying 33% of basin as having good health, while Forest assessed 27% Critical heath. Pearson correlation analysis CNN-predicted indicates that recharge (r = 0.52), return flow 0.50), fluctuation 0.48) are most positive factors. Validation results showed performed strongly, precision 0.957, Area Under Curve–Receiver Operating Characteristic (AUC-ROC) 0.95, F1 score 0.828, underscoring its reliability robustness. Geophysical Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) field surveys validated these classifications, high- low-aquifer zones. enhances understanding dynamics robust broader applicability management worldwide.

Abstract This study addresses the critical need for reliable groundwater recharge quantification by investigating uncertainty associated with estimation based on various combinations of model complexity and objective functions. Focusing Hombele catchment in upper Awash Basin, Ethiopia, research aims to analyze parameter sensitivity under different complexities objectives while estimating period 1986–2013. Employing a Monte-Carlo-based calibration scheme, fine-tunes parameters using functions like KGE, NSE, LogNSE, R2, VE across 10 Results identify FC, LP, BETA as highly sensitive parameters, UZL, K0, MAXBAS show limited influence all function scenarios. The semi-distributed HBV-light achieves calibration, validation, overall KGE (NSE) values 0.89 (0.80), 0.80 (0.73), 0.87 (0.77), respectively. Sensitivity analyses reveal significant impacts chosen levels. Average annual rates range from 185.9–280.5 mm when is semi-distributed, contrasting 185.3–321.7 lumped conditions, emphasizing importance considering these factors resource assessments.

Climate change has led to changes in precipitation patterns, exacerbating the overextraction of groundwater for wheat irrigation. Although many studies have examined effects cultivation on storage (GWS), few directly assessed planting GWS. We proposed a subsiding effect detection (WSED) strategy using time-series remote sensing image assess area GWS across China. The magnitude WSED is calculated as difference between and adjacent nonwheat self-adaptive moving window (the size position sliding can be automatically adjusted based characteristics data at central pixel location). differ greatly among types regionalization, characterized by strong stable area, gain Huanghuaihai zone (HWW, most important wheat-producing region China mainly includes provinces municipalities Beijing, Tianjin, Henan, Hebei, Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu). Nearly 80% regions had lower depth than areas with significant differences (p < 0.05), resulting clear declining trend approximately −1 cm/year. This study provides quantitative evidence regarding agricultural production climate adaptations.

Abstract This research investigates the effectiveness and application of green infrastructure in urban contexts within five major Indian cities: Some cities are Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata. The design also incorporates both qualitative quantitative approaches including a literature review, case studies, surveys with 1000 residents, interviews 25 planning experts. findings show that has positive impact on environment, economy, society. Green roofs Delhi minimize stormwater energy use whereas belts mangrove replanting Mumbai lessen flood impacts improve air quality. Bangalore’s rainwater harvesting increased groundwater recharge while Chennai’s wetlands help control reduction temperature. Kolkata’s community gardens not only enhance area city but contribute to local food production. analysis result is conducted results demonstrate F-statistics value as 8.48 p-value 9.90 x 10− 7. But there some issues consider maintenance costs, funding, public awareness. Thus, study comes up recommendations should be supported through policies, involvement, integrated crucial for sustainable development India.
