Abstract Walnut yield and quality are often affected by beetle infestations, particularly those caused Carpophilus dimidiatus (Fabricius) (Nitidulidae) Oryzaephilus mercator (L.) (Silvanidae). Beetle damage exposes walnut to microbial food spoilers such as Fusarium species. Insecticides currently used for control environmentally unfriendly. Pest-suppressing nanomaterials can generate innovative nanopesticide technologies leading more sustainable efficient farming practices. This work explores a green synthesis approach copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) in basic medium hydrolates obtained from Lippia integrifolia Pimpinella anisum, denoted CuO-I CuO-A, respectively. Characterization through XRD, FT-IR, Raman, UV-Visible absorbance, AFM techniques, indicated that CuO-A have size ranging 2-10 nm height. Antifungal assay showed both similar efficacy (MID = 320 µg), 3-fold stronger than CuO- NPs absence of (denotes CuO-W) 960 with the broadest inhibitory halos (ID 126-128 mm) observed CuO-A. Insecticidal activity CuO-NPs concentration-dependent behavior, showing an effect comparable diatomaceous earth. SEM images confirm adhesion insect surfaces, which could induce oxygen deprivation disrupting metabolic processes. Both promising their use integrated pest storage.

Growing demands for environmentally safe and sustainable pest management have increased interest in biopesticides as alternatives to synthetic chemical pesticides. This review presents the current status of bioacaricides, defined commercial biopesticide products based on microorganisms (microbial acaricides) biologically active substances microbial, plant or animal origin (biochemicals semiochemicals) used crop protection against spider mites (Tetranychidae) other plant-feeding mites. The most important microbial bioacaricides are mycopesticides, which manufactured from living propagules Beauveria bassiana s.l. several acaropathogenic fungi. Products avermectins milbemycins, secondary metabolites actinomycetes, well-known examples biochemicals origin. Among origin, widely date been pyrethrum—obtained Dalmatian daisy, Tanacetum cinerariifolium (Asteraceae)—and azadirachtin, obtained Indian neem tree, Azadirachta indica (Meliaceae). In recent years, essential oils aromatic plants belonging families Lamiaceae, Myrtaceae, Rutaceae others also gained increasing importance market. Special emphasis this is given compatibility with predatory family Phytoseiidae biological control agents integrated

The use of chemical pesticides has significantly improved crop yields and global food security but poses risks to environment human health. To address this, nanobiopesticides, combining nanomaterials biopesticide, have emerged as a potential alternative. Therefore, this article evaluates their sustainability safety through literature review using Scopus. results indicate that nanobiopesticides offer advantages over conventional pesticides, including greater precision, controlled release, reduced dosage requirements. An illustrative Life Cycle Assessment conducted in study confirmed they potentially more than commercial showing reductions environmental impacts from −6% −99%. However, several gaps remain related the effect nanoparticles on non-target organisms biodiversity, bioaccumulation, persistence ecosystems, ecotoxicological safety. Additionally, regulatory frameworks major agricultural markets are complex fragmented, hindering large-scale adoption. Currently, commercially available countries such U.S., India, Brazil, primarily for pest control crops like rice, maize, vegetables. Their market presence is growing, yet widespread implementation will depend clearer regulations further research long-term impacts.

The toxicity of synthetic pesticides to non-target organisms has prompted a shift towards more environmentally friendly agricultural pest control methods, including the use essential oils as possible biopesticides. Before these natural chemicals can be widely adopted for protecting food supplies and human health, it is crucial evaluate their impacts on pollinators, such honey bees. In this study, we examined effects one commercially available oil mixture (EcoTec+) four components (β-bisabolene, cinnamaldehyde, 1,8-cineole, eugenol) bee workers using feeding or spray treatment. We then assessed responses esterase (EST), glutathione-S-transferase (GST), acetylcholine (AChE), P450. EcoTec+ increased P450 transcript, while bisabolene inhibited EST AChE, GST, caused mixed response without being lethal. Cinnamaldehyde exhibited when ingested, suppressing eliciting in AChE. Cineole but response. Eugenol suppressed AChE was toxic contact. also assayed combinations each compound with formulations representative major pesticide categories, though no significant interactions were found. Overall, tested did not cause acute lethal bees; however, biochemical varied, mostly remaining sublethal. These findings suggest that could considered safe around
