Biochar (pyrolyzed organic material) has been increasingly recognized for its catalytic role in facilitating the advanced oxidation of emerging pollutants. However, inherent capacity remains highly uncontrollable, leading to considerable uncertainty when scaling up real-world applications. This study explores intensified biochar coated with CaO2 generating hydroxyl radicals (OH·) and tebuconazole, a prevalent fungicide, tebuconazole was selected as representative pesticide agricultural drainage. In addition evaluating potential degradation by processes (AOPs), adsorption capabilities two commercially available biochars, one derived from waste (ABC) other spruce chips (SBC), well their CaO2-coated derivatives (ABC/CaO2 SBC/CaO2), were also assessed. By taking advantage strong biochar, activating AOPs at sites CaO2, this material enables more efficient targeted removal tebuconazole. The results indicate that coating on promoted over tenfold increase generation OH·, resulting 99% within 10 min. Despite decrease 40–50% resulted coating, 10-minutes overall performance significantly enhanced. is closely related surface chemical properties, particularly presence persistent free which can be regenerated. research paves new way employing CaO2-enhanced mitigation measures.

Abstract There is an increasing imperative to explore safer alternatives for pesticides due their indiscriminate use and consequential health impacts on the environment humans. Nanoformulations of are being developed as potential beneficial properties, including enhanced solubility, targeted delivery site action, improved stability efficacy reduced non-target effects. Nevertheless, a comprehensive assessment necessary these emerging nanopesticides compared existing formulations, aiming ascertain whether "nano" characteristics exacerbate toxicity organisms. This study investigated tebuconazole (TBZ) in different nanoformulations (poly-ε-caprolactone [PCL] nanostructured lipid carrier [NLC] loaded with TBZ), well commercial formulation, reproduction nematode Caenorhabditis elegans both aqueous soil matrices. Additionally, impact correspondent nanocarriers without TBZ C. was examined. In water, form nano formulations exhibited higher nematodes' than (a.s.) attributable freely dissolved concentrations TBZ, which resulted order, ranging from most least toxic follows: NLC-TBZ > PCL-TBZ formulation (a.s.). For NLC-TBZ, excess could be clearly explained by combined nanocarriers, effect addition separate single compounds matching observed effects nanoformulation. PCL-TBZ, were stronger expected PCL potentially bioavailability encapsulated gut nematodes. soil, NLC showed other tested compounds, while did not exhibit negative . Microcosm experiment, where long-term native fauna tested, confirmed that TBZ-nanoformulations act via nanocarriers. These findings contribute valuable insights understanding nanopesticides' ecotoxicity underscore need harmonized regulatory assessments evaluate novel adequately.

Tebuconazole (TEB), a prominent chiral triazole fungicide, has been extensively utilized for plant pathogen control globally. Despite experimental evidence of TEB metabolism in mammals, the enantioselectivity biotransformation R- and S-TEB enantiomers by specific CYP450s remains elusive. In this work, integrated silico simulations were employed to unveil binding interactions enantioselective metabolic fate within human CYP1A2, 2B6, 2E1, 3A4. Molecular dynamics (MD) clearly delineated specificity four CYP450s, crucially determining their differences activity enantioselectivity. The primary driving force robust ligand was identified as van der Waals with particularly involving hydrophobic residues. Mechanistic insights derived from quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) calculations established C

Flubendiamide, a new generation pesticide, targets insect larvae also affects This study examines the effects of lowest observed effect concentration technical grade flubendiamide (0.5 µg/µL) on chick liver, focusing cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzyme expression, oxidative stress, liver damage. Chick embryos treated with showed significant alterations in CYP mRNA protein levels, indicating toxicant accumulation. Elevated CYP3A4, CYP1A1, CYP1A2, CYP2C19 levels were noted, suggesting enhanced biotransformation detoxification processes. However, byproducts led to as evidenced by decreased glutathione (GSH) elevated superoxide dismutase (SOD) catalase activities. DCFDA staining confirmed hydrogen peroxide (H
