Proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are highly regarded as a promising technology for renewable energy generation; however, the environmental burden in their life cycle is subject of concern. This study aimed to assess impact producing 1 kW PEMFC by well-detailed cradle-to-gate evaluation, using mid-point and end-point assessment methods. The impacts related extraction raw materials, consumption energy, transportation processes. Mid-point analysis shows that materials processing have significant share some impacts, including freshwater eutrophication, human carcinogenic toxicity, terrestrial acidification. On other hand, consumed cell production plays role categories fossil resource depletion global warming. highest attributed health (0.000866 DALY), followed damage ecosystems (1.04 × 10−6 species/yr) resources (USD2013 6.16844). Normalization results further strengthen importance necessity solve problems regarding toxicity. this work can provide directions toward enhancing sustainability present case adopting holistic approach looking across technology.

The air quality in educational campuses affects the health and work efficiency of teachers students. Studies into this matter are great significance for optimizing management campus living environments. Low-cost online sensors to monitor PM2.5 CO2 levels were used typical functional areas a university Beijing, China, including offices, dormitories, leisure spaces, canteens, laboratories. By comparing findings with data from nearby national monitoring stations, seasonal spatial variations concentrations analyzed. Findings indicate within notably lower compared surrounding urban environment. There was variation across different areas. Typically, indoor than outdoor ones, while enclosed spaces human activities progressively escalated. main internal emission sources affecting level on included traffic emissions, dust generated by activities, emissions catering. In contrast, better green coverage or where lake system participates atmospheric circulation, CO2/PM2.5 lower. This indicates that cleansing impact plants aquatic systems is instrumental lowering concentrations, offering healthier spaces. Seasonal also levels. During non-heating period, less pollution source led decreased concentrations. sites experienced an approximate 5 µg/m3 29 reduction average as environment, respectively, during heating period. sleep, can build up high 2303 ppm due breathing. It advisable stay indoors days when high, whereas clean air, it be outdoors out opening windows. Our research provides clearer scientific evidence incorporating behavioral strategies improving both daily life. Moreover, quite meaningful widespread adoption low-cost sensor various environments, applications beyond just settings.

As we navigate the fast-paced era of urban expansion, integration machine learning (ML) and remote sensing (RS) has become a cornerstone in environmental management. This research, focusing on Silchar City, non-attainment city under National Clean Air Program (NCAP), leverages these advanced technologies to understand microclimate its implications health, resilience, sustainability built environment. The rise land surface temperature (LST) changes use cover (LULC) have been identified as key contributors thermal dynamics, particularly development heat islands (UHIs). Urban Thermal Field Variance Index (UTFVI) can assess influence UHIs, which is considered parameter for ecological quality assessment. research examines interlinkages among LST, dynamics City due substantial air temperature, poor quality, particulate matter PM2.5. Using Landsat satellite imagery, LULC maps were derived 2000, 2010, 2020 by applying supervised classification approach. LST was calculated converting band spectral radiance into brightness temperature. We utilized Cellular Automata (CA) Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) project potential scenarios up year 2040. Over two-decade period from 2000 2020, observed 21% expansion built-up areas, primarily at expense vegetation agricultural lands. transformation contributed increased with over 10% area exceeding 25 °C compared just 1% 2000. CA model predicts areas will grow an additional 26% 2040, causing 4 °C. UTFVI analysis reveals declining comfort, worst affected zone projected expand 7 km2. increase PM2.5 aerosol optical depth past two decades further indicates deteriorating quality. study underscores ML RS management, providing valuable insights that guide policy formulation sustainable planning.
