This study analyzed the impact of climate adaptation materials on mitigation urban heat islands (UHI) using digital twin visualization and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology. The effects UHI due to increased impervious surfaces have become more pronounced, climate-adaptation are gaining attention as potential solutions. In this study, was CFD program STAR-CCM+ based finite volume method (FVM). selected research site Byeoryang-dong, Gwacheon City, four simulation scenarios were created emissivity values asphalt concrete materials. results showed that application decreased surface aboveground (1.5 m) temperatures by 6.3 0.8 °C, respectively. suggests can significantly mitigate UHI.

Urban digital twins (UDTs) were first discussed in 2018. Seven years later, we ask: What has been their contribution to urban planning and decision making so far? Here, systematically review 88 peer-reviewed articles map compare UDTs’ ambitions with realized contributions. Our results indicate that despite the vast technical developments, socio-technical challenges have remained largely unaddressed, causing many of remain unrealized. We identify three categories these challenges: interdisciplinary integration (II), consensual contextualization (CC), procedural operationalization (PO). Accordingly, consolidate a research development agenda realize UDTs for making: Augmented Planning (AUP).

This systematic review explores the use of digital twins (DT) for sustainable agricultural water management. DTs simulate real-time environments, enabling precise resource allocation, predictive maintenance, and scenario planning. AI enhances DT performance through machine learning (ML) data-driven insights, optimizing usage. In this study, from an initial pool 48 papers retrieved well-known databases such as Scopus Web Science, etc., a rigorous eligibility criterion was applied, narrowing focus to 11 pertinent studies. highlights major disciplines where technology is being applied: hydroponics, aquaponics, vertical farming, irrigation. Additionally, literature identifies two key sub-applications within these disciplines: simulation prediction quality soil water. also types maturity levels concepts applications. Based on their current implementation, in agriculture can be categorized into functional types: monitoring DTs, which emphasize response environmental control, enable proactive irrigation management forecasting. techniques used framework were identified based These findings underscore transformative role that play enhancing efficiency sustainability Despite technological advancements, challenges remain, including data integration, scalability, cost barriers. Further studies should conducted explore issues practical farming environments.

Urban flooding is a widespread and impactful natural hazard, presenting considerable challenges to urban areas. Integrating peri-urban forests (PUFs) into flood management strategies has emerged as promising approach mitigate hazards. Citizen engagement in PUF can enhance risk reduction efforts. A notable research gap exists understanding the factors influencing citizens’ intentions participate for mitigation. To address this gap, study investigates determinants shaping intention engage Using an extended Theory of Planned Behavior framework—which incorporates environmental awareness perception—this surveyed visitors PUFs Tehran. Structural equation modeling with SmartPLS was applied examine relationships among these variables. The findings reveal that attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, significantly influence intentions. In contrast, had no significant effect. This highlights importance fostering positive attitudes toward management, creating supportive social environment, empowering individuals knowledge resources, emphasizing hazard reduction. results provide empirical evidence supporting inclusion key determinant model. Enhancing immediate benefits crucial promoting active participation mitigation initiatives.

Digital twin-based resilience management systems are essential for improving urban flooding resilience, enabling lifecycle-oriented emergency as a continuous process rather than discrete phases. However, to the best of our knowledge, currently, there lacks system framework supporting development an digital twin (UFDT) platform capable managing events across entire lifecycle. This UFDT is required (1) accommodate model-generation methods/tools preparing what-if scenarios, (2) support readiness simulations and evaluations, (3) coordinate various collaborative prevention intervention services from different stakeholders in response any emergence, (4) monitor forecast risks recovery phase. To fill this gap, paper, new developed based on user-centred product design with consideration above requirements. It has two key components: conceptual model, generative methodology its rapid construction/updating/adaptation varying levels detail. A prototype been testing model at city, regional street exemplar assess framework's ability potential provide scalable, adaptable, stakeholder-focused solutions management[Q1].
