Bioeconomic Entrepreneurship and Key Factors of Development: Lessons from Argentina

For Argentina, a country with large biomass availability, scientific-technological capacities and strong agro-industrial sector, bioeconomy comes an opportunity for sustainable local national development. As key actors in bioeconomic transition processes, entrepreneurs become important source of information the design implementation strategies policies. However, activity cannot guarantee development outcomes. Here, we examine factors that influenced entrepreneurship related sustainability Our case study involved interviews 23 enterprises varying size technological level, covering main sectors regions Argentine bioeconomy. We identify five pathways distinct characteristics. Among driving these Argentinian bioeconomy, emphasized rich endowment natural resources high level scientific, entrepreneurial capacities. Public policies, economic stability regulatory frameworks were considered as most critical barriers to Entrepreneurs saw their contribution primarily generation new knowledge employment. Ecological or social motives less frequently reported. Despite agricultural commodity production being mainstay small-scale initiatives, which also include socio-institutional agro-ecological innovations, are coming up. Environmental policy integration in a newly established natural resource-based sector: the role of advocacy coalitions and contrasting conceptions of sustainability

Abstract Contributing a new South American case study, this paper seeks to advance the research agenda on processes of policy integration by developing better understanding how nascent subsystems become integrated into mature ones and role that changing beliefs advocacy coalitions play in fostering integration. The examines environmental Uruguay’s forestry sector since 1990s is based an inductive qualitative analysis documents, reports, parliament hearings semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders. We can derive three insights specifically address path integration: change dominant coalition, international salience minority coalition`s participatory foster interactions between opposing coalitions. Understanding the interactions between biowaste valorisation and the Sustainable Development Goals: insights from an early transition stage

The valorisation of urban biowaste can contribute to a circular and sustainable resource management. However, is not inherently sustainable.
