Antibiotic contamination has become a severe issue and dangerous concern to the environment because of large release antibiotic effluent into terrestrial aquatic ecosystems. Recently photocatalysis received tremendous attention due its ability remove antibiotics from aqueous solutions in cost-effective environmentally friendly manner with few drawbacks compared traditional photocatalysts. A visible light-induced, photoredox catalyzed, eco-friendly one pot method for the synthesis of 2,4-disubsitituted quinoline has been proposed. This novel strategy utilizes light to produce 2,4-disubstituted through tandem reactions involving formation C-N and C-C bonds with high yield product under relatively mild reaction conditions. synthetic protocol many important benefits, including a cost-effective catalyst, short time, excellent atom economy, simple work-up an extensive substrate scope.

The potential photo‐induced single‐electron transfer (SET) events occurring outside sphere is now well acknowledged.
