BACKGROUND. After the initial surge in COVID-19 cases, large numbers of patients were discharged from a hospital without assessment recovery. Now, an increasing number report postacute neurological sequelae, known as "long COVID" — even those specific manifestations acute phase.

ABSTRACT The transition from childhood to adolescence is marked by a dramatic decrease in physical activity (PA). Physical education (PE) experiences may contribute this change but remain underresearched. Using retrospective survey, we examined whether memories of enjoyment or nonenjoyment PE relate present-day (adult) attitudes, intentions, PA, and sedentary behavior. An online questionnaire was completed 1028 American respondents (18–45 yr). participants rated their PE, present attitudes intentions for as well PA In addition, responded with best worst an open-ended fashion. Retrospective associated attitude ( r = 0.37, P < 0.00001) intention 0.23, negatively time on the weekend −0.14, 0.00001). related activities class (56%), experiencing feelings competence (37%), and, interestingly, 7% were not having take any longer skipping class. Of memories, 34% embarrassment, 18% lack enjoyment, 17% bullying, 14% social–physique anxiety, 16% injury, 2% being punished teacher. Childhood are attitude, intention, behavior adulthood. Intensified research efforts should be directed toward understanding factors processes that lead formation PE.

Emotion recognition represents the ability to encode an ensemble of sensory stimuli providing information about emotional state another individual. This is not unique humans. An increasing number studies suggest that many aspects higher order social functions, including emotion recognition, might be present in species ranging from primates rodents, indicating a conserved role animals. The aim this review examine and compare how emotions are communicated perceived humans other animals, with intent highlight possible new behavioral approaches research perspectives. We summarize evidence human latest advances development nonhuman animal tests, using or implying use cognitive function. differential implication modalities used by animals communicate decipher states also discussed. opportunity measure abilities rodents may allow us better identify neural mechanisms mediating complex function, thus promoting intervention strategies for several neuropsychiatric disorders characterized dysfunctions.

The cerebellum plays a key role not only in motor function but also affect and cognition. Although several psychopathological disorders have been associated with overall cerebellar dysfunction, it remains unclear whether different regions of the contribute uniquely to psychopathology. Accordingly, we compared seed-based resting-state functional connectivity anterior (lobule IV-V), posterior (Crus I), vermis across posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD; n = 65), its dissociative subtype (PTSD + DS; 37), non-trauma-exposed healthy controls (HC; 47). Here, observed decreased brain involved somatosensory processing, multisensory integration, bodily self-consciousness (temporo-parietal junction, postcentral gyrus, superior parietal lobule) PTSD DS as HC. Moreover, group showed increased cortical areas related emotion regulation (ventromedial prefrontal orbito-frontal cortex, subgenual cingulum) PTSD. Emotional experience (EE) and trait emotional awareness (tEA) have recently become topics of considerable experimental/theoretical interest within the cognitive neural sciences. However, to date there has been limited empirical focus on how individual differences in factors contributing EE (a state-based construct) might account for tEA. To promote clear, well-guided research this area, article we first offer a concise review primary EE. We then provide theoretical investigation into these (i.e., affective response generation, representation, conscious access) could mechanistically tEA; also discuss plausible origins light current findings. Finally, outline possible experiments that would support (or fail support) role each factor explaining tEA-and added knowledge shed known link between low tEA multiple emotion-related mental systemic medical disorders. This article suggests that methodological and conceptual advancements in affective sciences militate favor of adopting an appraisal-driven componential approach to further investigate the emotional brain. Emotions are part and parcel of the human condition, but their nature is debated. Three broad classes theories about emotions can be distinguished: affect-program theories, constructionist appraisal theories. Integrating these into a unifying theory challenging. An integrative psychometric model inform such because models intertwined with theoretical perspectives constructs. To identify an model, we delineate properties stated by emotion investigate whether account for properties. Specifically, should allow (a) identifying distinct (central in theories), (b) between- within-person variations (c) causal relationships between components theories). Evidence suggests that popular reflective formative latent variable models—in which conceptualized as unobservable causes or consequences components—cannot all Conversely, network model—in systems causally interacting components—accounts The thus constitutes emotions, facilitating progress toward theory.
