Abstract Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) affects approximately 1% of the population directly, but also a much higher proportion (family and caregivers) indirectly. Although ASD is characterized by high prevalence anxiety poor gastrointestinal health, current treatment strategies are mainly focused on neurological symptomatic treatment, with little to no attention gut health. Furthermore, many psychiatric drugs used for management secondary symptoms, known exacerbate health issues dysregulation across gut-brain axis. Trace amines neurotransmitter-like substances synthesized endogenously in human brain – trace amounts abundance microbiome. Emerging evidence suggests amine system ASD. This study aimed to investigate the gut microbiota composition in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) compared neurotypical (NT) children, a focus on identifying potential differences bacteria between these groups. The was analyzed through massive sequencing of region V3-V4 16S RNA gene, utilizing DNA extracted from stool samples participants. Our findings revealed no significant dominant bacterial phyla (Firmicutes, Bacteroidota, Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, Verrucomicrobiota) ASD and NT However, at genus level, notable disparities were observed abundance Blautia, Prevotella, Clostridium XI, XVIII, all which have been previously associated ASD. Furthermore, sex-based analysis unveiled additional discrepancies composition. Specifically, three genera (Megamonas, Oscilibacter, Acidaminococcus) exhibited variations male female groups both cohorts. Oligofructose prebiotic fiber supplementation has been reported to mitigate the effects of a high fat/high sucrose diet and reduce knee joint degeneration in male rats. Sex differences in colorectal cancer (CRC) has received considerable research attention recently, particularly regarding the influence of sex hormones and intestinal microbiota. Estrogen, at genetic epigenetic levels, directly inhibits CRC cell proliferation by enhancing DNA mismatch repair, regulating miRNAs, blocking cycle, modulating ion channels. However, estradiol's activation GPER promotes oncogene expression. Conversely, androgen contributes to dysregulation progression via nuclear receptors while inducing apoptosis through membrane receptors. Specific gut microorganisms produce genotoxins oncogenic metabolites that damage colonic contribute induction. Regarding tumor microenvironment, estrogen mitigates inflammation, reverses immunosuppression, increases microbiome diversity commensal bacteria abundance, decreases pathogen enrichment.
