The widespread use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and its entry into humans livestock is serious concern. In our study, we investigated the impact PVC treatments on physiological, pathological, hormonal, microbiota changes in female rabbits. Trend-like alterations weight were observed spleen, liver, kidney both low (P1) high dose (P2) treatment groups. Histopathological examination revealed exfoliation intestinal mucosa treated groups compared to control, microplastic particles penetrated embedded spleen. Furthermore, P1 P2 showed increased 17-beta-estradiol (E2) hormone levels, indicating early sexual maturation. Moreover, elevated tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) levels suggest inflammatory reactions associated with treatment. Genus-level analyses gut group several genera or decreased abundance. conclusion, significant trend-like correlations demonstrated between content feed parameters. To knowledge, this first study investigate broad-spectrum effects exposure These results highlight potential health risks exposure, warranting further investigations animals humans.

There are various substances that can disrupt the homeostatic mechanisms of body, defined as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). The persistent nature microplastics (MPs) is a cause for concern due to their ability accumulate in food chains and widespread use, making toxic effects particularly alarming. potential MPs disrupting endocrine system was observed multiple tissues. Moreover, adrenal gland known be extremely sensitive EDCs, while with effect on has not previously been studied. This study aimed highlight polyethylene (PE-MPs) induced adreno-toxic rather than exploring implicated concluding if melatonin (Mel) afford protection against PE-MPs adreno-toxicity. To fulfill goal, six groups rats were used; control, Mel, (3.75 mg/kg), (15 mg/kg) +Mel, +Mel. changes cortex, which evident by increased weight, histopathological examination, ultrastructural detected electron microscope. A reduction serum cortisol an increase adrenocorticotropic hormone resulted from PE-MPs. Mechanisms may include steroidogenesis-related genes, drastically reduce mRNA levels StAR, Nr0b1, Cyp11A1, well Cyp11B1. Also, oxidative stress results associated higher rates lipid peroxidation decreased superoxide dismutase glutathione. inflammatory illustrated elevated expression IL-1β NF-ķB, immunohistochemical staining, addition caspase-3 Bax, markers proapoptotic activity. impacts relatively dose-related, dose showing more significant toxicity lower one. Mel treatment substantial amelioration PE-MPs-induced changes. Collectively, this fills knowledge gap about MPs-induced cortex elucidates related mechanisms. It also supports Mel's protective activity through antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, gene transcription regulatory effects.

Global environmental contamination by microplastics (MPs) is a growing problem with potential One Health impacts. The presence of MPs in vital organs, such as the heart, particular concern, but knowledge still limited. goal present pilot study was to investigate heart wild specimens three commercial fish species (Merluccius merluccius, Sardina pilchardus, and Trisopterus luscus) from North East Atlantic Ocean. Heart samples 154 were analysed for MP content (one sample per fish). A total 44 recovered species. had varied chemical composition (5 polymers), shapes (4) colours (5). Differences profile among observed (p ≤ 0.05). Thirty (19%) their hearts, mean (±SD) concentration 0.286 ± 0.644 MPs/fish. S. pilchardus highest There no significant > 0.05) differences between M. merluccius T. luscus. These findings different biological ecological traits together literature data suggest that likely disseminated phenomenon. Therefore, further research on cardiovascular system its health effects very much needed.

Microplastics and nanoplastics (MNPs) are present in urban dust the aquatic environments of industrialized cities. MNPs human body accumulate lymphoid follicles, Peyer's patches gastrointestinal tract, pulmonary vascular endothelial cells, which slowly result toxicity. Since previous studies introduced curcumin as a natural protective agent against environmental toxins, we reviewed preclinical that had used to protect organs or cells from toxicity secondary exposure MNPs. It was found resulted osteolysis, immunotoxicity, thyroid disturbances, nephrotoxicity, neurotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, toxicity, cardiovascular especially endocrine, reproductive Nevertheless, except for one study reviewed, restored all oxidative histopathological damages induced by normal due curcumin's inherent antioxidant, antiapoptotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative properties.

Polyethylene (PE) becomes a source of microplastics that can be widely distributed through the digestive and respiratory systems. However, its effects on blood cells are still being investigated. This study aims to analyze impact Microplastic (PE-MPs) exposure female rats, including erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets. used Wistar which were divided into control PE-MP groups. was administered via whole-body inhalation at concentration 15 mg/m³ for 4 hours daily 28 days. The absorption plastic particles detected in human bloodstream is likely occur mucosal contact (either ingestion or inhalation). After period, rats euthanized collect samples heart. A complete count performed using an automatic hematology analyzer, morphology analyzed thin smears. Mann-Whitney test. increased erythrocyte platelet counts without corresponding rise leukocytes. Erythrocytes showed abnormal (12.73% with ovalocytes tear-shaped cells). Erythrocyte indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC) no significant differences. Platelet rose by 1.7% (p-value= 0.017). Leukocyte neutrophil lower (0.84 0.94 times lower, respectively), while lymphocytes monocytes higher (1.03 1.61 higher, respectively) group compared controls. neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio did not differ significantly. disrupts parameters, altering increasing counts. Potential causes include oxidative stress, immune responses, compensatory mechanisms. Study limitations small sample size exclusive focus exposure. Integrating multiple routes (inhalation, ingestion, dermal) could offer broader view microplastic impacts. Future research larger samples, diverse doses durations, exploration additional markers organ-specific crucial understanding toxicity real-world scenarios.

Plastic is a synthetic or semi-synthetic organic polymer that widely used in daily life and industrial production. Microplastics are widespread contaminants can enter the human body through consumption of foods containing microplastics, inhalation microplastics air, skin contact with microplastic particles present products. ovaries as foreign bodies cause inflammation, oxidative stress, even ovarian granulosa cell death.
