Abstract Diverse chemicals and some physical phenomena recently introduced in nanotechnology have enabled scientists to develop useful devices the field of food sciences. Concerning such developments, detecting foodborne pathogenic bacteria is now an important issue. These kinds species demonstrated severe health effects after consuming foods high mortality related acute cases. The most leading path intoxication infection has been through matrices. Hence, quick recognition agents at low concentrations required current diagnostics. Lateral flow assays (LFAs) are one urgent prevalently applied methods that settled for recognizing diverse types analytes. Thus, present review stressed on latest developments LFAs‐based platforms detect various as Salmonella , Listeria Escherichia coli Brucella Shigella Staphylococcus aureus Clostridium botulinum Vibrio cholera . Proper prominence given exactly how labels, detection elements, or procedures affected recent evaluation using LFAs. Additionally, modifications specificity sensitivity consistent with processing techniques discussed. Finally, a conclusion drawn highlighting main challenges confronted this method offered view insight thoughts its further development future.

Lateral flow tests are one of the most important types paper-based point-of-care (POCT) diagnostic tools. It shows great potential as an implement for improving rapid screening and management infections in global pandemics or other health disorders by using minimally expert staff locations where no sophisticated laboratory services accessible. They can detect different biomarkers various biological samples provide results a little time at low price. An challenge regarding conventional LFAs is increasing their sensitivity specificity. There two main approaches to increase specificity, including assay improvement target enrichment. Assay comprises optimization signal amplification techniques. In this study, summarize specificity enhancement strategies with objective evaluation presented, such detection element immobilization, capillary rate adjusting, label evolution, sample extraction enrichment, etc. also key findings LFA performance solving limitations discussed along numerous examples.

Lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) has played a vital role in point-of-care (POC) testing on account of its simplicity, rapidity, and low cost. However, the sensitivity difficulty quantitation limit further development. Sensitive markers with new detection modes are being developed to dramatically improve LFIA's performance. Herein, ligand-complex approach was proposed uniformly coat thin layer Au onto Ag triangular nanoplates (Ag TNPs) without etching cores, which not only retain unique optical properties from TNPs but also acquire surface stability biocompatibility gold. The localized plasmon resonance absorption these Ag@Au could be finely adjusted visible (550 nm) second near-infrared region (NIR-II) (1100 nm), even longer, by simply adjusting ratio between edge length thickness. Utilizing as for LFIA, highly sensitive colorimetric photothermal dual-mode SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein achieved very background. showed an exceedingly high conversion efficiency 61.4% (ca. 2 times higher than that nanorods), endowing LFIA method (40 pg/mL), 25-fold lower results. generality verified accurate analysis cardiac troponin I (cTnI). This is robust, reproducible, specific been successfully applied SARS-COV-2 35 clinical samples satisfactory results, demonstrating potential POC applications.

The lateral flow assay (LFA) is an extensively used paper-based platform for the rapid and on-site detection of different analytes. method user-friendly with no need sophisticated operation only includes adding sample. Generally, antibodies are employed as biorecognition elements in LFA. However, possess several disadvantages including poor stability, high batch-to-batch variation, long development time, price ethical approval cold chain. Because these limitations, aptamers screened by vitro process can be a good alternative to molecules In recent years, aptamer-based LFAs have been investigated analytes point-of-care diagnostics. this review, we summarize applications aptamer technology clinical diagnostic tests biomarkers, microbial analytes, hormones antibiotics. Performance, advantages drawbacks developed assays also discussed.
