The prevalence of food allergy has increased in the past decades. However, most studies are based on self-reported clinical history rather than challenge-confirmed ones; these may overestimate allergy. Food been identified as one common causes anaphylaxis, especially among children. Like other studies, study by Rosero et al., published this issue, that is trigger for anaphylaxis pediatric patients admitted to a tertiary hospital.1 incidence food-induced children worldwide varied, with range 1 77 per 100,000 person‐years.2 Moreover, almost half all allergies experienced any previous reaction (46%, 2556/5587), Allergy Research & Education (FARE) Patient Registry.3 triggers causing adults crustaceans and eggs, cow’s milk, nuts, wheat, shellfish children.4,5 A detailed allergy-focused first step diagnostic work-up suspected have allergies. will serve guide tests be done. This European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) guideline provides recommendations for the management IgE-mediated food allergy was developed using Grading Recommendations, Assessment, Development Evaluations (GRADE) approach. Following confirmation diagnosis, allergen avoidance dietary advice (with support a specialised dietitian, if possible) together with provision written treatment plan, education on recognition allergic symptoms prescription medication including adrenaline an auto-injector are essential. Patients significant anxiety requirement coping strategies may benefit from clinical psychologist. As immunomodulatory interventions, omalizumab is suggested in children age 1 adults; oral allergen-specific immunotherapy recommended adolescents peanut milk egg allergies (generally after 4 years egg). Sublingual epicutaneous but not yet available at point care. Future research into disease modifying treatments highly needed, standardised patient-focused protocols outcomes.

Food allergies impose a large psychosocial burden, including mental, emotional, and social aspects, on both patients their caregivers. Patients, caregivers, families often experience anxiety, isolation, fear around food allergies. To assess the real-world mental health burden of allergies, using Allergy Research & Education (FARE) Patient Registry (NCT04653324). Self-reported data from with were analyzed FARE History Mental Health Concerns surveys. Food allergies occur due to a lack of tolerance the proteins found in foods. While IgE- and non-IgE-mediated food have different clinical manifestations, epidemiology, pathophysiology, management, they share dysregulated T cell responses. Recent studies shed light on contributions subsets development persistence allergic diseases. This review discusses role cells both considers potential future investigations this context.

Food allergy can be life threatening and often develops early in life, especially infants children with atopic dermatitis. is induced neonatal mice skin barrier mutations (Flaky Tail, FT+/- filaggrin mattrin gene mutations) by epicutaneous sensitization co-exposures to the food allergen peanut extract (PNE), environmental Alternaria alternata (Alt), detergent (4% SDS); oral PNE-challenge induces anaphylaxis. Sensitization these neonates also eosinophil infiltration into elevates expression of eotaxins (CCL11 CCL24). However, roles for eosinophils are not known. In this study, iPhil+/- pups, which have an inducible eosinophil-deficiency upon injection diphtheria toxin (DTX), were sensitized then received PNE gavage assess DTX depletion eosinophils, during PNE-challenge, blocked recruitment activation mast cells, Alt+PNE-induced increase plasma IL-33 OSM, attenuated serum PNE-specific IgE/IgG1/IgG2b, oral-PNE-induced Anti-IL-5 sensitization/challenge When depleted allergen-skin-sensitization restored before anaphylaxis was blocked. contrast, when present but Together, data indicate that although necessary allergen-induced anaphylaxis, a critical role development regulating sensitization-induced cell numbers allergen-specific IgE.

Background Food-induced anaphylaxis (FIA) is a major public health problem resulting in serious clinical complications, emergency department visits, hospitalization, and death. Objective This study aims to assess the epidemiology trends hospitalizations because of FIA Spain between 2016 2021. Methods An observational descriptive was conducted using data from Spanish National Hospital discharge database. Information coded based on International Classification Diseases, Tenth Revision. The population analyzed by gender age group according food triggers, characteristics, admission intensive care unit, severity, in-hospital mortality. annual incidence per 100,000 person-years estimated Poisson regression models. Multivariable logistic models were constructed identify which variables associated with severe FIA. Results A total 2161 hospital admissions for recorded overall rate 0.77 cases person-years. highest found those aged <15 years (3.68), lower figures among 15 59 (0.25) ≥60 (0.29). showed significant increase 2021 only children (3.78 vs 5.02 person-years; P=.04). most frequent triggers “milk dairy products” (419/2161, 19.39% cases) “peanuts or tree nuts seeds” (409/2161, 18.93%). Of patients, 256 (11.85%) hospitalized required 11 (0.51%) patients died hospital. Among children, appeared 0 4 (40/99, 40%). adults, 69.4% (111/160) occurred years. be (odds ratio 5.1, 95% CI 3.11-8.36), 3.87, 1.99-7.53), asthma 1.71,95% 1.12-2.58). Conclusions In Spain, hospitalization increased slightly, although (P=.04) children. Even if mortality remains low stable, proportion high has not improved 2021, older being risk factors severity. Surveillance must improved, preventive strategies implemented reduce burden
