Abstract: Aim Species richness and abundance are important elements in understanding communities’ dynamics. In this way we evaluated the spatial temporal variation of phytoplankton density a tropical reservoir, its main drivers. We tested whether variability hydrological cycle influences phytoplankton, addition to testing environmental variables that influence density. Methods Data from were sampled different regions João Leite Goiás, Brazil, during dry rainy period, analyzed by Principal Component Analysis, Student's t-test Bioenv. Results recorded distinct scenarios between with differences richness. Sixty-two taxa recorded, cyanobacterial predominance both periods lentic reservoir regions. Water temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, nutrient concentrations drivers our study. Conclusions The species directly reflect determining factors structure communities, generating information about ecosystem functions. Therefore, on reservoirs is essential, since construction aquatic biodiversity provision services.

Leakages in water distribution systems (WDSs) profoundly affect their operations, elevating production demand and treatment pumping costs. Moreover, they strain the energy system by increasing power requirements at stations. In regions heavily reliant on hydropower, such as Brazil, there is a nuanced implication: diminishing reservoir levels due to increased WDS flow withdrawal. This not only immediately affects hydropower generation reducing available head but, over time, may lead interruptions generation. paper investigates water–energy nexus, specifically focusing leakages Brazil. It begins with an overview of current situation future outlook, considering evolving policies enhance efficiency also evaluation different climate change scenarios. A more in-depth case study explores utilized for both production. this context, leakage management assumes critical importance, given various uses within that impact resources. Overall, offers comprehensive perspective nexus WDSs, underscoring importance control its direct indirect consequences, particularly capacity, environment, economy.
