The design of efficient advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) in the presence bicarbonate has long attracted considerable attention field environmental catalysis. In this study, sodium (NaHCO3) as one most abundant substances actual water, was introduced to a NaClO/Ru(III) system enhance removal acid orange 7(AO7). NaHCO3 could significantly improve efficiency Ru(III)/NaClO process HCO3− at pH range 6.9–10.0. Ru(V)=O identified dominant reactive species involved degradation pollutants NaHCO3/NaClO/Ru(III) system. interacts with Ru(III) generate Ru(III)-HCO3−, which enhances activation performance under neutral or alkaline conditions. AO7 enhanced increasing concentration, and rate constant increased more than 2-fold 4-fold concentrations from 0 100 mM 6.9 8.5. This study proposed novel strategy environmentally friendly inorganic ligands highlights its potential applications pollutants.
