The self-heating lunch box (SHLB) is a kind of popular instant food in China, yet little known about the associated chemical release risk during its heating process. In this study, we investigated organophosphate esters (OPEs) original unheated (UF), SHLB-heated processed (HF) and potential OPE from SHLB packaging materials. Significantly higher concentrations OPEs were observed HF (267 ± 246 ng/g dry weight (dw)) than UF (163 211 dw) (p < 0.001), suggesting an introduction additional processes. Despite the increasing health risks shown by continuous detection of organophosphate esters (OPEs) in biota recent years, information on occurrence and potential OPEs marine mammals remains limited. This study conducted first investigation into body burdens 10 traditional (tOPEs) five emerging (eOPEs) cetacean species (n = 84) from northern South China Sea (NSCS) during 2005–2021. All OPEs, except for 2-ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate (EHDPHP), were detected these cetaceans, indicating their widespread NSCS. Although levels ∑10tOPEs humpback dolphins remained stable 2005 to 2021, concentrations ∑5eOPEs showed a significant increase, suggesting growing demand new-generation China. Organophosphorus flame retardants (OPFRs) such as triphenyl phosphate (TPHP) and tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) (TDCIPP) were reported to impair cardiac function in fish. However, limited information is available regarding their cardiotoxic mechanisms. Using rare minnow (Gobiocypris rarus) a model, we found that both TPHP TDCIPP exposures decreased heart rate at 96 h postfertilization (hpf) embryos. Atropine (an mAChR antagonist) can significantly attenuate the bradycardia caused by TPHP, but only marginally attenuated treatment, suggesting TDCIPP-induced independent of mAChR. Unlike TDCIPP, although TPHP-induced could be reversed transferring larvae clean medium, inhibitory effect AChE activity persisted compared hpf, indicating existence other regulatory Transcriptome profiling revealed cardiotoxicity-related pathways treatments 24 72 hpf embryos/larvae.
