Microplastics (MPs) are ubiquitous in river and freshwater ecosystems. However, the hydraulic hydrological mechanisms that regulate activation emissions of MPs from both land surface subsurface into rivers not well understood. This study aims to quantify instream MP concentration load a remote headwater catchment (Taff Bargoed, Wales UK), which drains UK's largest opencast coal mine (Ffos-y-fran), over two-year period. Small fibers (< 1 mm) composed acrylic polyester dominated sampled Taff while less commonly observed fragments were mostly polysulfone. Abstract Gastrointestinal (GI) involvement in Lewy body diseases (LBDs) has been observed since the initial descriptions of patients by James Parkinson. Recent experimental and human observational studies raise possibility that pathogenic alpha-synuclein (⍺-syn) might develop GI tract subsequently spread to susceptible brain regions. The cellular mechanistic origins ⍺-syn propagation disease are under intense investigation. Experimental LBD models have implicated important contributions from intrinsic gut microbiome, intestinal immune system, environmental toxicants, acting as triggers modifiers pathologies. Here, we review primary clinical observations link dysfunctions LBDs. Microplastics and nanoplastics (MNPs) have implicated in cardiovascular disease preclinical studies. Our objective is to investigate the relationship between MNPs coronary arteries major adverse cardiac events (MACE) patients with myocardial infarction (MI).We conducted a prospective observational study involving undergoing angiography for MI. Microplastics (MPs) induce mitochondrial dysfunction and iron accumulation, contributing to macroautophagy/autophagy ferroptosis, which has increased susceptibility the exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); however, underlying mechanism remains unclear. We demonstrated that MPs intensified inflammation in COPD by enhancing autophagy-dependent ferroptosis (ADF) vitro vivo. Polystyrene micro/nanoplastics (MPs/NPs) are globally recognized environmental concerns due to their widespread pollution and detrimental effects on physiological functions. However, the neurotoxic underlying mechanisms of MPs/NPs brain function in adolescents remain incompletely understood.
