Previous studies have found that Astragalus Polysaccharide (APS) and Lactobacillus plantarum PS128 (PS128) potential antidepressant effects, but their effects on the gut microbiota metabolites of major depressive disorder (MDD) are still unclear. We examined effect APS first-episode drug naïve MDD patients using in vitro fermentation, further explored whether could enhance utilization ability APS. Fresh fecal samples from 15 were collected, analyzed for differences gas production, microbiota, tryptophan (Trp) related after 48 h fermentation. fermentation increased abundance Bifidobacterium decreased Lachnoclostridium (p < 0.05). also total production levels indole lactic acid (ILA), Trp, 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) Compared with APS, synbiotics 0.05), reduced percentages CO2, H2, H2S to some extent ILA, 5-HTP, although not statistically significant > Correlation analysis showed was positively correlated Trp 5-HTP; On contrary, negatively 5-HTP. All these results suggest regulate structure patients; synbiotic reduce shows limited modulate or patients.

Probiotics offer substantial health benefits, leading to their increased consumption in various food products. The viability of probiotics is a critical factor that influences the nutritional and therapeutic efficacy these foods. However, as often lose during production oral administration, effective preservation encapsulation technologies are needed overcome this challenge. This review elucidates diverse sources incorporation strategies probiotics, while systematically analyzing effects water transformation (ice front velocity, glass transition temperature, collapse temperature), processing conditions (food matrix, dissolved oxygen), gastrointestinal challenges (gastric fluid, digestive enzymes, bile salts) on probiotic viability. Effective strengthen encompass three primary domains: fermentation processes, techniques, methods. Specifically, include meticulous control (nitrogen sources, lipids, carbon sources), pre-stress treatments (pre-cooling, heat shock, NaCl stress, acid stress), optimized lyoprotectant selection (carbohydrates, proteins, polyols), synergistic freeze-drying (infrared technology, spray drying, microwave), bulk approaches (polysaccharide or protein-based microencapsulation), single-cell methods (self-assembly surface functionalization). Despite advancements, targeting specific matrices remains challenging, necessitating further research enhance

Background: Fatigue is a frequently reported symptom in children undergoing cancer treatment. Prior research shows an inverse relationship between fatigue and physical activity. Less known about fatigue’s with function or the underlying biological mechanisms of fatigue. This study explored associations among fatigue, function, associated metabolites. Methods: Children (7–18 years) provided serum samples self-reports lower extremity (mobility) using Pediatric Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) surveys at two timepoints during therapy. PROMIS scores were categorized as high/low per established cut points (high T > 47.5; high 51.5). High-resolution liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry extracted 29 metabolites hypothesized priori to be function. Descriptive statistics summarized scores, linear mixed effect models estimated metabolite adjusting for age, gender steroid use. Results: Forty participated (female, 53%; 7–12 years, 38%; 13–18 years 62%; Hodgkins Lymphoma, 33%; Acute Lymphoblastic/Lymphocytic Leukemia, 40%; Osteosarcoma, 10%; Other, 17%). Physical inversely related: T1 (r = −0.64; p < .001) T2 −0.63; .001). One (indole-3-latic acid) differentiated low Five significantly (4-Hydroxybenzoic acid, m-Coumaric myoinositol, tryptophan, tyrosine). Conclusions: These findings substantiate prior studies showing metabolites, particularly amino acids, All significant gut microbiome. was corelated providing another potential intervention management.

Our study aims to investigate the impact of dietary live microbe on relationship between chronic inflammatory airway diseases (CIAD) and depressive symptoms. We selected data from NHANES database 2007 2020. First, we explored CIAD symptoms using logistic regression analysis. And subgroup analyses were conducted demonstrate whether there was an interaction effect two in each subgroup. Then, further analyzed patients. assess viable microbial levels held true effect. A included 23,072 participants, whom 5,111 diagnosed with CIAD, 5,110 had information available. Multivariate analysis revealed that, compared those without individuals increased risk Subgroup indicated except for educational level smoking status, all other subgroups demonstrated that Additionally, within population, a higher associated reduced It is implied can negatively modulate showed no significant effects across (p > 0.05). Chronic increase developing Dietary High significantly patients CIAD.
