Chickpea is an important source of plant-based protein and mineral elements such as iron (Fe) zinc (Zn). The development superior high-yielding germplasm with high nutritional value becomes central for any breeding program. biofortified nutrient-dense seeds can contribute to mitigate many human health problems associated micronutrients deficiency. In this study, 282 advanced chickpea lines were grown under field conditions evaluate their agronomic performances quality value. trial was conducted winter planting during the cropping season 2017/2018 at ICARDA-Marchouch research station, Morocco. Results revealed genetic variation significant differences between tested genotypes all studied parameters. Under conditions, grain yield (GY) varied from 0.57 1.81 (t.ha-1), 100-seed weight (HSW) ranged 23.1 50.9 g. Out genotypes, only 4 (i.e., S130109, S130058, S130066, S130157) combined both good (GY, HSW) (protein, macronutrients, micronutrients). Protein content 18.9 32.4%. For whole collection, Fe 31.2 81 ppm, while Zn 32.1 86.1 ppm. Correlation analysis indicated that traits significantly intercorrelated, negative correlation concentration. Positive correlations observed filling time (F2M) Zn, Cu, Mn macroelements K Mg. Low positive also recorded Pr concentrations. No Zn. main makes easy simultaneous enhancement when combining these traits.

To systematically determine their phylogenetic relationships and develop molecular markers for species discrimination of Salvia bowleyana, S. splendens, officinalis, we sequenced chloroplast genomes using the Illumina Hiseq 2500 platform. The length officinalis were 151,387 bp, 150,604 151,163 respectively. six genes ndhB, rpl2, rpl23, rps7, rps12, ycf2 present in IR regions. contain 29 tandem repeats; 35, 29, 24 simple-sequence repeats, 47, 49, 40 interspersed three specific intergenic sequences (IGS) rps16-trnQ-UUG, trnL-UAA-trnF-GAA, trnM-CAU-atpE found to discriminate 23 species. A total 91 spacer identified through genetic distance analysis. two IGS regions (trnG-GCC-trnM-CAU ycf3-trnS-GGA) have highest K2p value studied Furthermore, tree showed that formed a monophyletic group. Two pairs genus-specific DNA barcode primers found. results will provide solid foundation understand classification Moreover, can probability between phenotype distinction gene fragments.

Abstract Comprising ca. 200 species, Saxifraga sect. Ciliatae is the most species‐rich section of s.str., whose center diversity in Tibeto‐Himalayan region. The infra‐sectional classification still debate due to high level species richness, as well remarkable variations habitat, morphology, physiology and life cycles. Subdivisions this proposed various taxonomic systems have not been adequately tested previous phylogenetic studies, partly low sampling density, but also use few DNA markers. In order achieve a more robust , complete chloroplast genomes 94 taxa from were analyzed, which 93 newly sequenced, assembled annotated. length plastomes range 143,479 159,938 bp, encoding 75 79 unique protein‐coding genes (PCGs). Analyses revealed conservation structural organization, gene arrangement, content. Gene loss changes IR boundaries detected extremely frequency. molecular tree concatenated PCGs genome sequences exhibited resolution support values confirms that monophyletic. Three well‐supported clades within agree relatively with subsectional taxonomy Gornall (1987), some minor modifications should be made. These authors suggested several options, expressing preferences. However, there a recent change to formally accepted names implementing one these possibilities, without any additional relevant information. This seems unjustified unhelpful. Antimicrobial peptides are prominent components of the plant immune system acting against a wide variety pathogens. Legume plants from inverted repeat lacking clade (IRLC) have evolved unique gene family encoding nodule-specific cysteine-rich NCR in symbiotic cells root nodules, where they convert their bacterial endosymbionts into non-cultivable, polyploid nitrogen-fixing cells. NCRs usually 30-50 amino acids long having characteristic pattern 4 or 6 cysteines and highly divergent acid composition. The diversity of vascular patterns in flowers Fabaceae subfamily Faboideae is outstanding yet remains relatively overlooked. Studies floral vasculature are fairly scarce, and the phylogenetic framework they have been interpreted outdated. Here we propose a reassessment previous results, underlining relevance characters for systematic studies. A thorough literature survey was conducted, bring some remarkable seminal work from late 1960s into light, include recent results leading to description an until now unrecognized pattern Faboideae. Our review shows that high among mostly due shape number traces, vertical horizontal fusions bundles, mode division stamen traces. distribution different phylogeny does not seem random, particularly at tribal level. In addition, nectaries located between stamens carpel exhibit contrasting supplies Morphological constraints might impact on traces with numerous stamens. provides groundwork future studies aiming clarify nature nectaries' structure further investigate evolution using representative taxonomic sampling updated framework.

The chloroplast (cp) genome is an adequate genomic resource to investigate evolutionary relationships among plant species and it carries marker genes available for identification. Cicer reticulatum one of perennial as the progenitor cultivated chickpeas. Although a large part land plants has quadruple organization, cp C. consists LSC (Large Single Copy Region), SSC (Small IR (Inverted Repeat) region, which indicates that untypical unique structure. This type belongs IR-lacking clade. Chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) was extracted from fresh leaves using high salt-based protocol sequencing performed Nanoball Sequencing technology. comparative analysis employed between examine differences gene homology. study also included codon usage frequency analysis, hotspot divergence phylogenetic various bioinformatics tools. found 125,794 bp in length, with overall GC content 33.9%. With total 79 protein-coding genes, 34 tRNA 4 rRNA genes. Comparative revealed 99.93% similarity arietinum. Phylogenetic further indicated closest relative arietinum reticulatum, whereas previously sequenced wild displayed slight distinctions across their entire coding regions. Several regions, such clpP ycf1, were exhibit nucleotide diversity, suggesting potential utility markers investigating within genus. first complete sequence will provide novel insights future genetic research on crops.
