This phenomenological study examines the characteristics that contribute to development of resiliency in veterans Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Enduring (OEF) who experienced combat-related amputations. The project comprised recorded semi-structured, in-depth interviews with 10 OIF OEF veteran male amputees. We transcribed analyzed resulting data yielding six emergent themes: grief, will live fight, amputation adjustment issues, social support as a protective factor, coping skills, posttraumatic growth. study’s results body knowledge on resiliency, which may improve therapeutic interventions help overcome traumatic events, such amputation.

BackgroundChronic pain after injury poses a serious health burden. As result of advances in medical technology, ever more military personnel survive severe combat injuries, but long-term outcomes are unknown. We aimed to assess rates representative sample UK with and without injuries.MethodsWe used data from the ADVANCE cohort study (ISRCTN57285353). Individuals deployed as armed forces Afghanistan were recruited include those physical frequency-matched uninjured comparison group. Participants completed self-reported questionnaires, including 'overall' intensity self-assessment post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression.ResultsA total 579 participants injury, 161 amputations, 565 included analysis (median 8 yr since injury/deployment). Frequency moderate or was 18% (n=202), higher injured group (n=140, 24%) compared (n=62, 11%, relative risk: 1.1, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.0–1.2, P<0.001), lower amputation subgroup (n=31, 19%) non-amputation (n=109, 26%, 0.9, CI: 0.9–1.0, P=0.034). Presence at least associated (RR: 3.7, 2.7–5.0), anxiety 3.2, 2.4–4.3), depression 3.4, 2.7–4.5) accounting for injury.ConclusionCombat not amputation, frequency this cohort, adverse mental outcomes.

Mental health issues, particularly anxiety and depression, are increasingly prevalent among the occupational population. Environmental factors, such as dust exposure, may contribute to worsening of these symptoms. While previous studies have examined association between exposure mental health, moderating effect sleep duration on this link in settings remains under-explored. This study was conducted from July October 2023 at The Fifth People's Hospital Ningxia recruited dust-expose d workers different coal enterprises. Introduction There is very good international research on deployment-related mental disorders in military personnel. The incidence rates show a wide range. A new strategy therefore proposed order to achieve better standardization and thus comparability of the studies. In addition non-deployed comparison group, we propose compare deployed soldiers with without critical incidents during deployment. This additional distinction makes it possible differentiate between influencing variables actual threat general deployment stress. Methods N = 358 male combat Afghanistan were included study. Clinical interviews conducted several days before after Of them, n 80 suffered life-threatening incident deployment, whereas 278 did not. Odds ratios (OR) calculated for groups onset PTSD, anxiety depressive disorders. Results When comparing both groups, found significantly higher 1-year group incidents: 6.4% vs. 1.1% (OR 6.2) post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); 7.0% 6.5) depression; 15.9% 2.8% 6.6) rate multimorbidity (PTSD or depression) was 4.8% 0.4% 12.0). Discussion These results indicate that are important health. As different levels various missions taken into account, predictors could be determined more precisely further research.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has been identified as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease, but the mechanisms of this relationship are not well understood. This study investigates associations between PTSD symptom clusters (hyperarousal, intrusive thoughts, avoidance behaviours and emotional numbing) disease including cardiometabolic effects, inflammation, haemodynamic functioning. In ADVANCE cohort UK male military personnel, 1111 participants were assessed via questionnaire venous blood sampling, pulse wave analysis dual energy x-ray absorptiometry 2015 2020. While veteran-specific healthcare has responded the needs of majority, success veteran mental health is contingent on serving whole population. Key personalisation question need address specific inequalities barriers help-seeking behaviour. In this paper, we explore issues at three levels: those common all veterans; relevant veterans.
