AbstractThe January 2025 Southern California wildfires, among the most severe in recent years, devastated over 40,000 acres, displacing thousands and causing extensive physical emotional tolls. Beyond evident economic impacts, mental health consequences demand urgent attention. This editorial highlights psychological repercussions, including acute stress, PTSD, anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, affecting survivors, first responders, vulnerable populations such as children, elderly, low-income communities. Prolonged disruptions repeated wildfire exposures exacerbate these challenges. The emphasizes necessity of integrating into disaster response preparedness strategies, advocating for immediate support, long-term care, resilience-building within By recognizing a vital component management linking it to climate change policies, comprehensive approach can mitigate burden wildfires enhance societal resilience future climate-related disasters.

Background Climate-fuelled disasters are increasing in frequency and duration, with impacts known to disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, such as perinatal women young families. Local healthcare workforce engagement into planning responses is required ensure improved for these populations. One important component of care Australia occurs through the maternal child health nurses (MCHN). Attempted research nurse sector regarding impact on during times disaster has encountered structural barriers.

Climate change is accompanied by changes in the exposome, including increased heat, ground-level ozone, and other air pollutants, infectious agents, pollens, psychosocial stress. These exposures alter internal component of exposome account for some health effects climate change. The adverse outcome pathways describe biological events leading to an unfavorable outcome. In this perspective study, I propose use toxicological framework better steps linking a stressor associated with Such also allows identification possible interactions between stressors related others, such as chemical pollution. Climate change has contributed to an increase in the frequency and intensity of natural disasters such as droughts, wildfires, hurricanes, floods, leading both immediate physical harm long-term mental health consequences. Survivors often experience psychological distress, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a result these traumatic events. This narrative review explores intersection climate change-related disasters, outcomes, epigenetic modifications. Specifically, we summarize recent findings on how environmental stressors influence changes, DNA methylation. Emerging evidence suggests that mechanisms, particularly methylation, could mediate effects health, potentially contributing onset disorders like panic disorder, autism spectrum attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. We also discuss other histone modifications non-coding RNAs, emphasize importance longitudinal studies capture dynamic nature changes over time. Finally, propose future research directions deepen our understanding complex relationships between which will pave way for more effective interventions policy integration.

We reviewed recent evidence regarding the impact of climate change (specifically, high ambient temperatures, heatwaves, weather-related disasters, and air pollution) on older adults' mental health. also summarized other medical problems that can occur in aging adults connection with change, resulting psychiatric manifestations or influencing psychopharmacological management.

The impacts of climate change on mental health are starting to be recognized and may exacerbated for populations at disproportionate risk or inequalities, including some people living in low- middle-income countries, children, indigenous populations, rural communities, among others. Here, we conduct a rapid scoping review reviews summarize the research date risk.
