Abstract The Asian corn borer (ACB), Ostrinia furnacalis , (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), a significant threat to crops, necessitates comprehensive research on its populations, across multiple clades. This study addresses the efficacy of various diets, such as an antibiotic mixed diet amoxicillin with artificial diet, wheat germ flour and fresh leaves, for successful mass rearing three clades O. investigates variations among insects reared under laboratory conditions. We validate these findings using biological attributes. Notably, clade III demonstrated enhanced characteristics in contrast I II, higher growth indexes observed during rearing. Through revealing suitable clade, this advances our understanding dynamics offers valuable insights practical applications integrated pest management program.

Abstract The Asian corn borer (ACB), Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenée, 1854), is a serious pest of several crops, particularly destructive maize and other cereals throughout most Asia, including China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Pakistan Cambodia. It has long been known as in South-east Asia invaded parts Solomon Islands, Africa certain regions Australia Russia. Consequently, worldwide efforts have increased to ensure new control strategies for O. management. In this article, we provide comprehensive review ACB covering its (i) distribution (geographic range seasonal variations), (ii) morphology ecology (taxonomy, life-history, host plants economic importance) (iii) management (which include agroecological approaches, mating disruption, integrated genetic chemical well biological control). Furthermore, conclude with recommendations some suggestions improving eco-friendly enhance sustainable infested areas.

Abstract Rachiplusia nu (Guenée) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is a significant agricultural pest in South America infesting several crops, including soybeans. Bacillus thuringiensis (Berliner) (Bt) soybean, expressing Cry1Ac protein, widely planted as control method for numerous lepidopteran pests. However, insect resistance to Bt proteins poses threat its sustainability. Recent field reports from Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil have documented unexpected injury soybean caused by R. populations, which may indicate the development of this species. This study aimed evaluate biological performance, reproductive parameters, compatibility two strains, one susceptible (SS) other exhibiting reduced susceptibility toxin (RR), when reared on non-Bt soybean. Reproductive between strains was investigated through parental hybrid crosses, evaluating fecundity, fertility, mating success. SS larvae fed with failed complete their life cycle, whereas RR exhibited higher survival rates. Egg larval stages were longer Pupal mass lower Bt-fed resistant strain, although did not reflect fecundity longevity. Results crosses revealed that strain displayed success, compared treatment. Hybrid showed evidence prezygotic postzygotic incompatibility. These results suggest shift protein highlight importance implementing robust management strategies maintain effectiveness crops.
