Successful
developmental
neuroimaging
efforts
require
interdisciplinary
expertise
to
ground
scientific
questions
in
knowledge
of
human
development,

technologies

Introduction:
Substance
abuse
is
recognized
as
a
brain
disorder
that
primarily
affects
two
systems:
the
motivation-reward
system
and
defense
system.
The
former
responsible
for
modulating
behaviors
aimed
at
obtaining
pleasurable
reinforcers
such
social
interactions
food.
Frequent
drug
use
diminishes
response
of
this
system,
leading
to
tolerance
hedonic
effects.
oriented
towards
safeguarding
individual’s
physical
integrity,
responds
threatening
stimuli
by
generating
sensations
fear
or
anxiety
displays
an
antifragile
nature.
Objective:
describe
interaction
between
these
systems,
which
altered
frequent
use.
This
leads
diminished
increased

two.
Method:
recent
scientific
articles
published
in
PubMed
were
browsed
critically
reviewed;
both
human
animal
studies
included.
Discussion
conclusions:
interactions,
neglectful
parenting
child
abuse,
promote
allostatic

maintaining
consumption.
In
models,
it
has
been
observed
maternal
care
deprivation
early
days
life
maladaptive
adulthood
alcohol
Similarly,

their
dominant
counterparts.

findings

relationship
