Advanced oxidation processes using TiO2-based nanomaterials are sustainable technologies that hold great promise for the degradation of many types pollutants including pharmaceutical residues. A wide variety heterostructures coupling TiO2 with visible-light active have been explored to shift its photocatalytic properties harness sun irradiation but a systematic comparison between them is lacking in current literature. Furthermore, high number proposed nanostructures different size, morphology, and surface area, often complex synthesis hamper transition these materials into commercial effective solutions environmental remediation. Herein, we designed facile cost-effective method synthesize two heterostructured photocatalysts representative main families novel structures proposed, hybrids metal (Au) semiconductor (CeO2) nanomaterials. The extensively characterized ensure good comparability terms co-catalyst doping characteristics, morphology area. ciprofloxacin sulfamethoxazole as target pollutants, antibiotics concern polluting water sources, has evaluated CeO2/TiO2 exhibited highest activity, achieving complete antibiotic at very low photocatalyst concentrations.
