Tire wear particles (TWP) are a prevalent form of microplastics (MPs) extensively distributed in the environment, raising concerns about their environmental behaviors and risks. However, knowledge regarding properties toxicity these at environmentally relevant concentrations, specifically role persistent free radicals (EPFRs) generated during TWP photoaging, remains limited. In this study, evolution EPFRs on under different photoaging times adverse effects Caenorhabditis elegans were systematically investigated. The process primarily resulted formation reactive oxygen species (O2•−, ⋅OH, 1O2), altering physicochemical TWP. exposure nematodes to 100 μg/L TWP-50 (TWP with time 50 d) led significant decrease locomotory (e.g., head thrashes, body bends, wavelength) neurotransmitter contents dopamine, glutamate, serotonin). Similarly, expression neurotransmission-related genes was reduced exposed TWP-50. Furthermore, addition free-radical inhibitors significantly suppressed TWP-induced neurotoxicity. It is of great significance to construct a Z-scheme heterojunction for improving solar light harvesting and achieving efficient separation photogenerated carriers then enhancement the photocatalytic performance semiconductor photocatalysts. Herein, direct PI/Ag2WO4 was designed prepared according band edge potentials semiconductor. Shape matters for microplastics, but its definition, particularly hyperspectral imaged remains ambiguous and inexplicit, leading to incomparability across data. Hyperspectral imaging is a common approach quantification, yet no unambiguous microplastic shape classification exists. We conducted an expert-based survey proposed set of clear concise shapes (fiber, rod, ellipse, oval, sphere, quadrilateral, triangle, free-form, unidentifiable). The categories were validated on images 11,042 microplastics from four environmental compartments (seven matrices: indoor air; wastewater influent, effluent, sludge; marine water; stormwater; stormwater pond sediments), by inviting five experts score each shape. found that the well defined, representative, distinguishable human eye, especially fiber sphere. Ellipse, rod though less dominated in all water solid matrices. Indoor air held more unidentifiable, abstract appeared mostly particles below 30 μm. This study highlights need assessing recognizability chosen prior reporting Shapes with stringent definition would increase comparability reproducibility data promote harmonization research.
